Hello,
I am new here and I do plan on introducing myself properly and introduce the others soon but at the moment we have exams and are struggling (which is why I decided to write this topic). My name is Lara and I am the dominant alter. For the past two weeks, we've been experiencing persistent switching without even noticing. I don't know how to explain it but it's as if one alter pushes the other without the knowledge of the one who was originally there. We are going through a really rough time at school and we have these horrible depressive episodes, perhaps that's the reason? have you guys ever experienced this? why in your opinion is this happening?
Usually when someone is taking over, I get a headache or blurry vision (depends on who is taking over), but these days none of these things happen while switching! why?

Hi Lara,
I'm not too sure why it's happening but I wanted to let you know that it's happened to me a lot, mainly before I knew I had DID. I don't know much about the wording yet because I'm kind of new here too, but some of my alters don't have complete separate lives, so far I have found 3 that are just me split off at that age. I know that one took control for almost 2 or 3 years straight and I didn't really know. I was in control some time but most of the time it was her. That was a really depressive time for me so whenever she's out I get depressed, well technically I guess it's her. It's really hard for me to figure out when she switches too but recently I can kind of tell or I ask this alter who seems to be in charge of everyone if it's me or her. Usually I can tell if I feel completely fine and then all of a sudden out of nowhere I am depressed. I hope that helps a little bit. Oh and yeah usually with the 3 that are me, I can't really notice a change I don't get the usual blurry vision or push kind of thing.

I don't know what is happening, but that sounds like us.
Switches have been happening without us noticing. We've also been losing time without noticing. We used to get really disoriented (like waking up from a deep sleep) when we "woke up" after losing time, but now we don't.
We have also been going through a hard time with school and depressive feelings because we've realized we can't go to to do a Masters like we planned.

Hi Lara. I don't know why things are changing for you right now but for what it is worth, it is normal for DID system dynamics to change. Often there is no identifiable cause for the change. Generally I would consider change to be a sign of growth, so perhaps growth is the cause.

Hi Lara,
Sometimes there's a big trigger but sometimes systems get unstable under lots of stress. Then we have to recalibrate. Happens to us sometimes - happened a lot in college. Mostly we go back the way we were after the stress is off but sometimes there's a change.
Good luck,
Iain

which one do they mean?
