Money issues.

Postby ThatPerson » Mon Mar 06, 2017 5:23 am

so Walmart is terrible for us. I get to checkout and guess what??? 30$ of crap I didn't put in the buggy. Wtf do I do about that cus I didn't realize what was hapinning because I went in for batteries and a laxative and left with fabreeze colored pencils and a dog toy and a water and food holder station for the cats. It's breakin the bank and I dunno how to stop it from happening.

Did you have the items already paid for before noticing what was in the cart? Because if not, why didn't you just not buy the excess items?

Oh ok. I'm not really sure what advice to give to keep it from happening, sorry.

our dog usually bumps us to help stay grounded in public, but for some reason I wasn't responding well to her alerts.

This - plus - any chance of internal discussions about budgeting before you go shopping then you can plan what you can afford whilst including everybody.

Yes!

Steve, the reason you ended up with a cart full of items you didn't need, is because you didn't want those items—others did. Before shopping, it's good to ask inside about what everyone wants or needs, and make a list that has not only general needs, but also the things that people have been looking at in particular. Otherwise, when other people in your system pop out, they'll just say "hey! While we're here, might as well get this and that," and then suddenly your cart is full of odds and ends. Best to ask beforehand so you know what to expect.

Omg you have a shopper, like me! HI! I looove shopping. I'm also under the impression that money grows on trees. ~ Em

Shopping triggers Emma. We are still learning to manage her shopping behavior. It has taken a lot of internal parenting & negotiation to get it mildly under control.

Before we go shopping, I do a check in with each person. How are they going? Do they need anything in particular? We talk about budget & put something on the list.

Last time it went something like this;
Aisle wanted a new skirt
Rowe wanted purple hair dye
Emma wanted nail polish
Becs wanted a new teddy to cuddle..

Everything agreed upon goes on the list, Emma is allowed to buy everything on the list. This works well for us. Emma just likes buying everything. She doesn't need much.

asking internal who put what in the trolley & why.

sounds good for who we know and communicate with. Fenris was the dog tug of war rope I know , but the coloring stuff..... I have no idea. None of us have met this artsy person. Symptoms yeah but Alex wrote them off as whim till I noticed the artist was drawing and comparing ME.
