what is this?? co-presence?

Postby vortexvoid » Fri Feb 24, 2017 8:29 am

i had to call my bank to authorize a large payment. called customer service number and it is automated, of course. it said "enter the last four digits of your ATM card or the phone access PIN you previously set up". i hadn't set a separate PIN, so i went to enter my card numbers (i'm making these up for internet purposes obviously): 1254. but my hand typed in 6473. i couldn't figure out why, so i cleared it and tried again, this time LOOKING at my card: 1254.
again, my hand typed 6473. what the heck.
i hung up the phone. stared at the numbers. 1254. called back. rehearsed the number in my head, went to type it in: 6473. WHYYYYYYYY?!
i was about to hang up when it connected and said "hello vortex void, your account is blah blahblah"... it worked!?
i couldn't figure out why. i didn't even know what that second number was, much less wanted to type it. i finally realized it is part of my social security number, and that "I" had set it up as a phone PIN. except "I" didn't. SOMEONE did.
it was the weirdest feeling. like two people trying to steer a car in opposite directions. i kept thinking "i'm trying to type the right number!" and my hand kept moving as if someone in there was like "this IS the right number, you just don't know it!"
what on earth is this? is it because i'm paying more attention now? i feel like maybe in the past i would've just entered a number but not even realized what it was. i don't know, i can't remember anything.

this is so weird, but it almost made me glad because having these experiences makes it easier to believe this is all really happening.

i guess the right word is co-presence, sometimes one hand can be controlled by a different alter, i often use chat to talk to some alters , and the host may do other things on the same time while the alter is chatting.
more troublesome is when a alter takes control of the arm and hits the body in the face, when they have done something that she doesnt like.

Yeah we do this, we always called it co-habitation, don't know how it works for anyone else but we can only do it left to right side of the body. I'm left handed so I get the left hand side of the body the rest are right handed and can use the right side of the body. TBH I find it a bit weird when I get both sides now. We spend most of the time like this anyway because its easier to get things done without having to fully tag in or out.
With this it sounds like someone more dominant was just able to take over your hand and correct you doesn't tend to happen with us because that's rude, but if one of the other right handed peeps are doing something dangerous or saying something stupid Vills will cut them off and stop them, she doesn't normally take the full body to do it she just stops a hand or clenches up the larynx.

we call it piloting and copiloting. Even if someone else is in control someone else can be copiloting in the background.

Hi. I went to pay my daughters camp fee on 'Friday only to find out more than half of it had already been payed! Someone in here wants her to go to camp. My T was rude to Adam/Daniel the other day and my left hand clenched to a fist and was about to punch my T. That was interesting. We didn't hit him. We sorted that out very quickly. This is such a strange and interesting life!!!! The mind is an amazing thing.
