our sleep has radically improved.
medication made no difference.
talking thru to the scared Little did.
I used a mix of essential oils that my aromatherapist recommended because they help with anxiety and have a strong calming effect.
every evening I would use those essential oils on the body and speak thru to anyone who might listen that when she smells this particular smell we are safe. it took about a week of this and things got better.
we are now following strict sleep hygiene to keep things good.
strict times for waking up and going to bed, routines to support this.
for the last few weeks we slept better than in the last 15 years.
it is getting darker outside and the little is stirring again. I wonder if what we have learned is enough when winter is coming. I often feel like I am in game of thrones: winter is coming...

I just wanted to add this to the story. finding the scared little and helping them to feel safe was the key. we still dont know who she is, we just spoke thru in the hope that she would hear it. and sleep hygiene really works. there is a reason why they teach that stuff.

Happy to hear of the progress with your sleeping!

It had not occurred to us that perhaps our sleep issues were related to our dissociative issues. We sleep for 12 hours, are awake for 25 hours, sleep 9 hours, are awake for 4 hours, sleep for 8, are awake for 23 hours, sleep for 3 1/2 hours...

We end up keeping vampire hours, which isn't the best way to get things accomplished.
