C Suite = senior leardership

You have a point. But that logic wouldn't sit well with the average worker, salaried or hourly, where we work (NYC). So our employer only pays senior leadership monthly. Everyone else gets paid semi-monthly, which is the next-best alternative from a bookkeeping standpoint.

In other companies, it's common for most employees to get paid weekly or every other week, although the latter usually only occurs for salaried positions.

We'd be interested to know how common your scenario is throughout the US, how common ours is, and how common the weekly and every other week scenarios are. But we're too lazy to research it.

Okay, so not all of us are lazy. Here are two pages from the U.S. Department of Labor website:

State Payday Requirements
https://www.dol.gov/whd/state/payday.htm

Not sure if "requirements" means that employees must be paid only at the frequencies indicated for a specific locality, or if the frequencies indicated are minimum frequencies permitted by that locality.

How Frequently Do Private Businesses Pay Workers?
http://www.bls.gov/opub/btn/volume-3/ho ... orkers.htm

Of course, this leaves out any information about government workers' pay schedules, which may vary from private companies in the same geographic area. Both of our brothers have government jobs. B1 works for his local town (township/boro/parish/whatever) government, and he gets paid weekly. B2 works for the county and gets paid every other week.

somehow, we all share core interests; visual art, and music. together or separate. we all however do have our own styles of doing those things. it leads to quite a variety of creative output.

we are not an out-in-open system; only one other-bodied person knows of us, and one other other-bodied person sort of knows. we don't particularly like the idea of using ourselves as a marketing tool.

we are fortunate that the person who knows about us is our musical partner as well and that we are on similar eclectic-output wavelengths.

Nodding. We could have written a book, but we won't. That's one of the reasons why.

resurrecting this thread. so we got serious about the budget and the bills. child support has helped. and started something new. anything we wanted went into the Amazon cart for later. it was kind of like our wishlist, but in one place. and because we have been so good with money we can now get many of the things on the list.

I think this is working much better. now we can all get everything together so there will be less of the "what about me and what I want?" there's everything from eye liner to a roasting pan and life straw. to make sure the littles aren't left out they can each add something. it's kind of like our own mini Christmas. there are still things we have to save for later - like a nice vacuum cleaner - but all of these little wants/wishes/needs are going to happen at the same time. and it's also easier to make sure it's fairly divided so everybody feels fair and equal. it also helps that we have slowly been getting the things we need like pants, shoes, towels.

I think this could work for us and we'll just do it 2-3 times a year. we'll see how it goes. this is still just a plan but the day is coming. even budgeting for school supplies and new clothes and shoes for the kiddo. we'll make it work. and paying bills FIRST has really helped lower the stress and resentment on the spending. moving everything to the list has cut down on impulse buys.

the list is working for us. only it's not a list. it's our Amazon shopping cart. go team.

Interesting thread. Just read through it all and it has given us a bunch of mixed feels.

Well, this is timely. One of the outside girls is in town, and since I hate to shop, but don't mind as much if I have company, we did a lot of shopping and errands today. I really tried to keep track of the stamina of the littles, and work in treats for them. We bought a sweet after lunch, and when we needed to return something at one mall, we got a special drink for them. Then when we went to another mall, there was a Disney store, so we just had to go in there, and ended up buying a small stuffie.

So, even though the actual errands were very boring for them (and we also got our teeth cleaned this morning, which they didn't like at all!), I made sure they knew that I didn't forget about them.

The older ones got a new pair of pants that is really comfortable and looks good, and also some new make up (something we have never spent much time on, but have learned more about recently).

It's very hard to be nice to any part of myself and feel like we're worth buying things for. I don't feel like I deserve to have things that I like, even though affording them is not a problem.

Someone would like to take up the guitar again, but we don't have one. Someone really wants a new couch because one of ours is so ratty that I don't really want to sit on it to watch TV. I'm sure there are more wants like that. I guess I should make a list.
