What does passive influence, blending mean?

I read it while reading posts here, but don't quite get it....I think I do this and would like to understand it better.

i can't say for sure as i am not the one who wrote that, but i can say it was probably something we experience amongst ourselves.

when we are around each other we have a passive influence. in other words we end up influencing how the other feels with our mere presence near them in the system.

in other words, lilly might be serious as can be, and therefore not the kind of alter to crack a joke, but then when melody is around to cause problems, you might catch lilly cracking a joke. that's a passive influence.

lilly however isn't super serious, that's lockleigh's job.

but when it comes down to it, that is also blending. the personalities of the two alters are there blending together because of their passive influence.

Does this mean the host (Me) can be passively influenced by an Insider and not switch? Is it like co-fronting?

Passive Influence is when someone inside influences the actions, feelings, etc. even though that part is not fronting. I get that a lot where I'll suddenly have an angry reaction towards something or someone over something I wouldn't normally be bothered by but it bothered someone inside enough for that feeling to reach me. Hope this helps.

thank you violarules, i wish i could have said it as eloquently, but i'm non-verbal, and the only translator wasn't very good with english either. i'm not sure why they have a little translating for me anyways, other than she likes following me around for some reason.
