saying hi, and remembering I have a question.

Postby revsophie » Fri Aug 22, 2014 3:40 pm

Hello everybody! I have to say, after I discovered this forum, it was a relief to know we weren't alone in this. And this seems like a really great pack to be apart of.

I've noticed though that they tend to be more of an effect on me as the host. As in, when Nicole is out, I can feel her there, but it's like her preferences in foods (she loves spicy foods) become mine. It's hard to feel like I'm properly describing this, but I'm hoping someone has had a similar discussion.

As well, is it a normal thing that as they start coming forward that there are less amnesia events? Since they've started coming forward, it seems like I'm remembering more and more of when they are out.

But my real question is about names. How do y'all handle it when the host has the same name as an alter? I don't want to give up my name. And she's pretty much told me off in regards to changing her name. But it turns out I may have got it from her... I've recently had a name change before they started coming out. What is a good way to handle this? Sophi1 and sophi2 seems a bit odd, especially when I say it out loud...
An attempt at a color code, which may or may not be followed at the moment.

Sophia(host)

Truck (fighter)
Lilly (shy)
Maureen

if not listed here they can pick a color or sign their names as they please.

I would like to answer this part of your question just from my experience. I really kind of ignored my D.I.D and naming, because I wasn't ready to accept it. After some months of stuff and noticing I couldn't ignore. Then and only then is when I really started to name them. I start to learn what my ears hare hearing from each distint tone of voice from in my head. i got use to listening to the same distint tones male female etc daily. Then I said well, let me open my mouth out loud and just ask one of them, whom I hear mostly each....who is this? I closed my mouth. then i hear that tone from my head a name from that same tone. It was the most amazing thing every. You know a voice not of our own, different from thinking . YOu know how we think...I got to buy the baby some shoes, or dang i;m going to bathroom etc. YOu follow me????

Twin alter, hey make a post to explain what twin alters in your head are. Just wondering. I'm not sure if my system has twin alter or not.

Since making this post I've already learned a lot about my system and met a few more alters. It's actually quite amazing. And as I get used to things I am able to pick more and more of their thoughts out of the crowd.

I can tell you, they are twins. Like related flesh and blood twins. That's the concept I get from them. Very childish. But holy cow, don't underestimate them.

We actually figured out the naming issue. Sophia didn't have a name and took our hosts name. It caused a lot of issues for all of us. But once that was solved we've started figuring out a hierarchy.

Yeah, she was actually Lilly, a name we have her. And she's now doing a lot better knowing she's got a place with us.

This message was a team effort, and we'll probably end up setting up a signature and a color code for the future as to not go and have to make posts ridiculous.

Oh and I'm finding switching in and out of plural so freely is really freeing and strange at the same time.
