OCD Alter Making me OCD (Maybe TW)

Postby ShadowBandit1025 » Sun Jul 13, 2014 5:47 am

Hello again all, I'm back for my five thousandth post. I'm not sure if this would be worth of calling it a TW but as always read with caution.

So my oldest Jess is really badly OCD. She'll take random words from random conversations throughout the day (even if I'm "fronting") and she'll spell it what seems like 50 times. To the point where I miss the conversation I'm having because she's so busy with her own little head. Then when she is out she counts the letters on her fingers.. and I've been starting to do the same, that and typing things out on an invisible keyboard in front of me.

This is starting to get really irritating, because it makes no chronological sense, it's always just random things at random times...

So my question is does anyone else have this? Where an alter has something and you're starting to develop it too?

It is called passive influence. An alter is behind the fronting alter, influencing the behavior thoughts and feelings of others. Yes we have that all the time.
Rituals (?for lack of better word?) like these we have them too although not severe enough to be called full blown OCD. In here they are mostly kids who are keeping themselves busy by playing 'games' like this.
Sorry that you're experiencing it as such a bother. I hope you will find a way to make it easier.

Thanks Collective. It's nice to know it has a name. Passive influence. That's what happens with Host when we get too close to front. It's not our fault exactly. It's not like we're trying to make him crazy or anything. We don't always control how close to front we are. We don't always control what happens to Host when we overlap like that. Sometimes we are just trying to stay calm because being too close to front is scary for us.

Sometimes Host depends on passive influence because we can help him with things. Like enjoying silly movies and talking to teenagers and navigating when we are in the car and fixing computer stuff and drawing. That's all better when we passive influence Host because he can't do that stuff very well. But we've learned how not to come completely out because that might get everybody in trouble.

When they say 'be yourself',
which one do they mean?

I know that I've had passive influence, which can cause me to make bad judgment calls because I wasn't aware that the feeling wasn't coming from me. I think that I'm able to tell a bit better when an alter is influencing my thoughts and feelings.
I have ADHD. Possibly have another mental disorder but am not certain.
