Question about integration to complex systems

Postby lifelongthing » Sun Nov 10, 2013 1:28 pm

I have a question re integration in more complex and larger systems. Has anyone on here with several systems gone through the integration process? We've been considering integration and its options but in our system is seems it would be difficult for parts from different subsystems to integrate with those in another subsystem. Can anyone relate to this at all?

Putnam 1989, Diagnosis & Treatment of Multiple Personality Disorder, has a lot to say about fusion and integration, including in large and/or complex systems of alters. DID system size and complexity are not obstacles to fusion. In fact, it seems that in these situations fusion can be done, and often happens spontaneously, in large "job lots" of related alters. Generally these alters are fragments. The term fragment is in no way pejorative; it reflects that the alters naturally all fit together, often without much adjustment needed, because they have not been much elaborated or changed post creation.

we consider ourselves a generally large/complex system, with three levels (separate rules/complete amnesia between levels with very few inter-level interactions) and one subsystem. We've had 2 integrations, but both were on level 1. i dont have much to help but am sort of curious about any answers.
i couldn't imagine how it would work for our levels to start integrating with each other. it would tear a hole in the worlds' structure  but i guess anything could be possible with DID.

Thanks so much Una+. Also, thank you for the lovely explanation of what a fragment is. That is the first time I've read about fragments and have it actually "click" :)

i couldn't imagine how it would work for our levels to start integrating with each other. it would tear a hole in the worlds' structure  but i guess anything could be possible with DID.

For us too this seems very strange. But I do realize of course theoretically it could happen. Just the topic of the inner world alone after such an integration would be strange for us.

i dont have much to help but am sort of curious about any answers.

Hopefully someone has experience :)

We are starting to understand more about this now.

A part of us is now becoming closer and closer to me. She's shared her memories with me and is now very close almost 100% of the time. It's like having her right behind my face. Quite uncomfortable but I think it's a part of healing as she usually spends her time sleeping when she isn't fronting for trauma.

We are sharing feelings more and she can still fully front but generally not without me being co-conscious (and vice versa). We have been looking into how this can happen when she's from a different subsystem and as I expected it has to do with how our inner world works and would be different for different systems. Interesting though as I wouldn't expect it to work as it has.

Hello!

How did it go with the alter bein there all the time? Did you both integrate?

When we had the mass integration (from 300ish to 1)

everybody took their time and space- it started with Rob realisin this body isn t male. Then others followed (the tower). Where the littles used to play. A few days later the Ocean, Savanne and Forest.

It took some time before it was full.

Helas, it didn t last. So I think too that it s important to see how you can make it last- as it s quite a hard process (tho worth it!).

So for us: it started with Rob havin time out and realisin the Outer world had changed a lot and was nothin like he saw reality.

The others joined when they were ready, and place per place.

I find too that alters who re like fightin, havin a friendship or look alike or easier to become integrated in one way or another.

Much love

After all the new memories that have surfaced lately we haven't integrated anyone but it seems quite possible to still integrate the 2 alters that there have been talk of before. The one who has been close to the front for months now still is and seems just as easily "blendable" with several of us as before.

I'm hoping to work on a few things in therapy before moving forward with this as now is not the best time but if it happens naturally (as it has in the past) that is good. It's a journey :)

Thanks for sharing your experiences :)
