Yeah, it can be exhausting. Repressing yourself (whether the "self" you're repressing is one or many) is no good. Well, no good in itself, but it's a necessary evil. Humanity would have gone extinct long ago if nobody ever restrained themselves...

Yes, pretty much. Inside, each part exists in a context that doesn't exist anymore. Things get confusing and out of proportion really fast, because they can't be constructive if they're not aware of the context where they find themselves when they surface. The timeline is broken.
