I can visualize mine. I don't know if it's necessarily because I can 'see' them, or if it's because they've told me so many times and it's how I picture them when they "speak" in general. :)

We don't actually see anything - no hallucinations - but how each of us look is distinct and individual, and both I (Katie) and my co-host (Kiska) could draw, paint or make a collage to show you exactly how we and the others really look...funny enough, neither of us hosts look anything like the body, but another alter does. :)

I agree with a lot of people who've posted here, I can't see them in a very physical sense, though it's possible and even likely that I have a few times, I have dreamt a couple of them, and I have very clear images in my minds eye what they look like. A pretty good physical sense of them and I know how they like their hair and clothing, partially because we have been doing "self-portraits" so long. Many of us are good at art and we went to art school for our degree 8)

I can't really "see" them, although I have the best impression of Darko, which I have co-consciousness with. I can sometimes "feel" the outlines of him.
I came across a picture a while back which surprised me of how much it is the same as him.
I post it here not as an image because it might be triggering.

The others are still very vague, but it feels like they wear my face, which is a bit disturbing...

I don't know if I see them so much as know what they impress on me. I'm a writer so with many of them, they pick certain characters in my novel they identity with so I have a chicken and egg thing going on with a lot of them. When I was younger though, I had more of a physical impression of my Protector which was nice.

I do have an idea of what Cynthia looks like and today she drew a self portrait of herself. It was nice to see it. She did a good job on it.

I really like to draw so I thought having a drawing of myself would be nice :)

if you feel up for it, you should share it cynthia. maybe post it in the art thread [:

i can visualise some of us very clearly, others are bits of body parts or impressions, like the after effect of an emotion... going to what you say about characters; i'm also a writer. my characters are very loud and strong and have their own sense of self and often talk in my head etc, but i never include them when i'm talking about my alters. i have literally hundreds and hundreds of characters and the idea that they're alters scares/confuses me and doesn't make sense to me. they appear in my head fully formed and i have to write them otherwise they get overwhelming and pushy. but they differ from alters in that they are created in specific settings rather than pertinent to my real life situation and past. they also have a different 'feel'. i feel closer to a lot of them, like i really know them well. as far as i know none of them attempt to take executive control or are even aware that they could do so. if they are self-aware then they believe they are living in their respective role and have no comprehension of my reality. i have a very large and complex inner multiverse type world that they exist within.

i DID have one of these experiencing very intense confusion and anger about being in this life, like it felt like i was actually this character but it felt more psychotic because he was convinced that someone had attacked him and stuck him in someone else's body. i also get an overpowering desire to go 'home' a lot which feels connected to them but i don't know how much can really be attributed to them.

VanessaG wrote:I am wondering if everyone can "see" their insiders?

I don't have very strong visuals of them. I can "feel" them and know who they are and when they come closer upfront.

I know some of them have certain hair/eye color but they seem to run away and not give me a true visual or are fuzzy, blackness or nothing visual at all....

What's it like inside for you and your insiders???

I can never see them clearly, it's kind of fuzzy. I can see mother and the 5yr old but can see shapes and get the sense of who they are. I think as time goes by and I learn more and as
EMDR progresses it seems like they start becoming clear. Like mother and the 5yr old. Because I have had breakthroughs with them.

I talk to them all the time, I know they are there and can hear me. I want them to know how greatful I am for their help and that I love them. I try to do things they like and let them be themselves.

Oh my characters are separate though my alters like to offer suggestions sometimes when I'm stuck on scenes (which can be both helpful and frustrating) but appearance wise they pick and choose characters that suit them, I don't mind, makes it easier because I see my characters very clearly.
