I am wondering if everyone can "see" their insiders?

I don't have very strong visuals of them. I can "feel" them and know who they are and when they come closer upfront.

I know some of them have certain hair/eye color but they seem to run away and not give me a true visual or are fuzzy, blackness or nothing visual at all....

What's it like inside for you and your insiders???

I can see my insiders (in my mind's eye of course), and they're also kind of fuzzy/black. I think of them more like holograms. But then when I focus in on my inside world and close my eyes when speaking with them, there is more colour. I know what they look like to some extent, but not as clearly as I see people in the world.

I can also 'feel' their presence and movement. I can clearly see facial expressions and sometimes I feel the emotions they are holding (when they are being shared with the whole) or I can sense into them.

I can only hear what one part thinks sometimes, but this isn't in clear sentences so it is hard to work out and understand. Sometimes a couple of parts and I are more connected (starting to integrate?) and we will say the same thing (in our inner talking space) and know we have shared the same thought. This is a funny feeling but nice feeling – I guess this is how it will be if and when we integrate?!

Honestly, I can never visualize my OWN face correctly. Mirrors are fascinating.

When I had the DID crisis last year, I saw a miserable looking, tear stained face of an 18 month-old girl and a 4 year old girl. I stayed at my mums place, who still has old book cases and wooden frames with animal ornaments from that period in my life. I wonder if that triggered them to make an appearance! Recently, I have been able to hear the 4 yr-old, but cannot see her.
I've been processing the traumas of a 16 yr old girl for most of this year. I can clearly see her tall slim lanky figure and long mousy hair. I can see her smile and laughter but cannot really see her face. More and more, I've been feeling her body memories.

I am resurrecting this old thread because I think I might have had a similar experience. I am also experiencing body memories and am at a very intense point in my therapy. I got a flash the other day in my minds eye of a girl, about 8 or 9 (slightly younger than I was at the time of abuse.) She was in the back seat of a car , with a seat belt on , and she was struggling to take it off. She seems very distraught and frusterated. She was blonde, as I am, but it was not me. I have had visions and dreams of selves within dreams. That is where most of my work is done. It is possible that I may have been kidnapped and take in a car myself, (I have complete amnesia of trauma), as I have drempt as much. She could have been a self. It was just very interesting and I wanted to share because I very seldom get conscious images of this sort.

Hello there ! This is an interesting thread !

As far as how I can "see" the others in here, well, I don't. At all. I have extremely poor spatio-visual functions in general, and I have read much about the mind's eye, a faculty that seems inexistent in me. I cannot ever "see" something in my mind, and what I know about the appearance of my alters comes from self-description.

I never did before in all my years and I am 50. Only last week was the very first one so it's possible you may get a vision of them one day.

I did see my main alter a few times. One of the weirdest experiences happened a few years back when the guy i was dating at the time's face seemed to morph into what seemed to be my alter's for a few seconds (i was unaware back then)

During stressful times, I can often see everyone pretty well (contingent on internal communication)... I can see their faces (most are introjects, which seems to clarify their appearance as they were based off of outsiders), as well as most of the inside. If communication has not been consistent, or if there appears that some impasse has been reached between myself and an alter, my visualization is not as clear. Lately, which feels very different, I can see alters outside or have brief visualizations of their memories externally, as if projected on a screen into my environment.

I can only see a couple of them. Most of the time I sense them. But it's weird because all of mine have a color associated with them. For example, Abbie is green. SHE isn't green, but the color associated with her name is, so when Abbie is around I sense green inside. Hard to explain. I have synesthesia (one sense is perceived as if by one or more additional senses so for example every word has a color), so this makes sense for me.

Yes, definitely. I clearly can “see” their faces, their bodies, their haircut, their style of dressing and what glasses they wear (if any). I also can see the “biotope” they live in. Actually, this is the way they present themselves. For example the “introverted professor” lives in his study, allowing no one to enter. The “warrior woman” lives in a tent in a military camp, commanding her subordinates.
