Co-Hosts!

Hello, lovelies! Safehugs to all of those in crisis.

Sooo, Elyse and I, as well as the rest of the system, have agreed upon being co-hosts. As per usual, a person with DID typically has one main host, correct? So we ..both are the main host. Fifty/fifty.

I'm just curious, does anyone else do this? How do you manage it? Has it turned out well?

Don't have the search function right now but there are some helpful threads about different hosting styles. We've had hosts, co-hosts, no host and so forth. It's just depended on what was needed and what everyone felt up to at the time really

Birch and I are often out together as hosts. It's far more effective and reduces the need to switch during the day because we can help each other handle stress.

Our hosting style was difficult when I lived with my boyfriend but now that we're single it has been a blessing having someone with me.
It's not a perfect system and it's not permanent. We've tried a bunch of other methods of hosting and each one works better for others. Some in our system function better when alone, others in pairs, some in groups, other times we just let whoever wants to be out at the moment be out and have no structure at all.

I just let Kat do whatever, for the most part... sometimes I just have to say "absolutely not!"
I always assume that there's a "team" mentality where no teammate, save one, would do anything to jeopardize the team.

We have Jessica and Peter who are both host because Anastasia was crying alot when she was on her own. ~Sam

We don't have one primary host. We sorta break the day into the ever-fun "Who likes to do (x)".

Like, Lola or Linn go to work usually (occasionally me), and Linn or D cooks, HB cleans (and screams the whole time - poor roommates), school is Leon (sciences/math) or me (music/language) or ell (art/music/latin/writing/history) depending on the classes, Gemini or me or Lola like to do exercise/outside activities, and then free time is kinda split between lots of people. We've never had one primary host, it seems. it works best for us this way.

During the day, we also kinda help each other out and make comments. Linn and D will mention this or that spice or recipes and cook together, and Minnie helps HB organize, or Linn or D will help Lola at work if something needs to be done creatively since she has *no attention to detail* and Linn does/is great with colors, and D has insane spatial reasoning for what looks intriguing. rinZU makes either really annoying or zen comments to all of us if we're stressing. at school we'll chat over essays/assignments and there is usually at least 2 people taking notes at any given time (which gets some weird looks, writing with both hands at once). and getting dressed in the morning, EVERYONE is involved in. actually, in anything, there are usually a few of us around. :p

it works well for us. even though it's sorta a buddy-system-revolving-door kinda operation.

Kat: Michael and I are considering doing this...I'm technically the host right now, though my title is the "fake host." We're not sure if we want to do it yet...
