I have just met a new little member of my SO's system; a boy that seems to be 2-3 years old. He's an adorable little boy, but what confuses me is his age since he, according to the memories he share, must have been made years later than his age would indicate.
Have any of you ever heard about an alter beeing made much younger than the bodys age at the time of splitting?

Why do you say he seems 2-3 years old? What makes you think that?
Some parts don't have a (good) notion of time, even parts that seem like adults. I'd go based on the earliest memory he can remember than an abstract notion like "age". How old he feels is relative anyway.

He's been around for a long time if he's that young, so I'm guessing he experienced other things as you all grew up together, but remained the same age.

Yes. I am middle aged and although my Alter 5 was created just 3 years ago her developmental age was 4, 5, maybe 6. The princess age. She was not split off in my childhood and then held in stasis: she was formed through projective identification with another adult I met 3 years ago.
Dx DID older woman married w kids.
0 Una, host + 3, 1, 5. 1 animal.
2 older man. 3 teen girl.
4 girl behind amnesia wall. 5 girl in love.
Our thread.

Thank you all for answering.

That's interresting, Una+. I've never heard about it before and wasn't sure if it was possible, but now I know it is. Thank you!

I have wondered the same thing about myself actually.... I believe my first split happened when I was 15 years old.... (I know that is older than most for a first split, but so far all evidence points to this) but I do have 2 alters that are 8 years old....
this has always been a big question for me, not quite understanding how it all works.... it gets confusing....
Comes out:
Aayla 26 F (Host) Bi
Amanda 15 F (ISH) St
Wanda 22 F (sexual) St
Ella 18 F (temper) Les
Vivian 8 F (quiet/dark)
Cola 8 F (excitable/curious)
Inside only:
Andy 12 M (smart/moody) Bi
Mac 26-60 M (strong/wise) Gay
Vira 16 F (wild) Bi
Brandon 4 M (silent)
Tandra 13 F (shy/independant) St

So if I get this right, age doesn t have to imply a specific real age memory?
This has been puzzling me as Indie Always had a different age then the time of the trauma.
I also wondered about this as Ruby Ann was just 1,5 somethin, even tho I couldn t relate any memory or event to that age.
I m glad to see you re supportive to your SO s system

Love
