*trigger warning*

A person knows who they were best in the moments before death.

I think there are better ways of showing someone to themselves. Besides, what is the actual point in that? People need a chance to improve, otherwise knowing what they were does nothing.

Having experienced the moments before death before, I would disagree with this. I didn't know best who I was, I was on 'survival autopilot'. I knew nothing in those moments.
I agree with Gerudo7, there are better ways to show people who they are and give them a chance to improve.

That's because most people are incapable of change by themselves, and even under another's influence, they almost always revert back to their previous state. People won't improve by themselves. But... they will when I'm there.

Was your "near death' experience at the hands of another person?

A forced change is not genuine. Nor would I expect it to be healthy. I don't think people need influence so much as help.

Also, I don't think whether another person is causing your death alters how you view yourself. If anything it would probably make one more cynical to the world, which is not a healthy change either.

Yes, exactly, it only made the world a much less safe place. And my life is much more 'monotonous' now than it was before the death experience.

I don't think you have to understand someone to help them.

We can be a help to each other without even directly talking to each other, let alone understanding each other. Understanding can take a really long time.
