sorry about the missing trigger warning, everyone, and yes - I am not a doctor or any kind of professional, so please take anything I say with a grain of salt. I seem to go overboard with enthusiasm occasionally :-)

@llt: you're absolutely right, combining dopamine supplements with anything that blocks dopamine receptors for example sounds like a good way to manufacture a psychosis, if one was such inclined ;-)

Generally I just work on a trial and error basis with my neurochemistry - e.g. I noticed I felt very depressed, negative and angry, especially in the mornings. I had this for years. Tried all sorts of serotonergic drugs (including medical SSRIs) to no avail. Eventually read this could be related to dopamine, tried supplementing, and zooom, I'm a happy bunny jumping out of bed every morning. There are official test too though.

Unfortunately all this brain chemisty stuff is extremely complex - drug interaction is only one of the possible pitfalls. Another thing is that everyone's brain is different, so what works on mien is not necessarily going to work for everyone. But it is extremely fascinating how tinkering with chemicals can completely transform one's experience of reality, in subtle and amazing ways.

And yeah, integration - every morning I wake up amazed that I still haven't fallen apart again :-) I want to tackle the last outliers in the system now and see what they think about joining. There's still some separation going on in terms of self image - the alters that really do not like themselves or the rest of the system very much are having a hard time. But we'll give it time!
It shows an excessive tenderness for the world to remove contradiction from it and then to transfer the contradiction to reason, where it is allowed to remain unresolved.
