
@llt: you're absolutely right, combining dopamine supplements with anything that blocks dopamine receptors for example sounds like a good way to manufacture a psychosis, if one was such inclined

Generally I just work on a trial and error basis with my neurochemistry - e.g. I noticed I felt very depressed, negative and angry, especially in the mornings. I had this for years. Tried all sorts of serotonergic drugs (including medical SSRIs) to no avail. Eventually read this could be related to dopamine, tried supplementing, and zooom, I'm a happy bunny jumping out of bed every morning. There are official test too though.
Unfortunately all this brain chemisty stuff is extremely complex - drug interaction is only one of the possible pitfalls. Another thing is that everyone's brain is different, so what works on mien is not necessarily going to work for everyone. But it is extremely fascinating how tinkering with chemicals can completely transform one's experience of reality, in subtle and amazing ways.
And yeah, integration - every morning I wake up amazed that I still haven't fallen apart again
