Help with internal communication?

Postby Little » Sun Jun 02, 2013 9:37 am

I don't have much contact with any of my alters, really. A couple of years ago I was very co-conscious with a protector alter of mine, and at that time things were very bad. Now things are better but I don't feel that I have as much communication as before. Sometimes I feel like there's someone co-conscious though (like someone is with me), or that I'm not really there (I have control over the body and mind but I feel disconnected, if that makes sense?).

Sometimes I feel the feelings of other alters, a while ago something bad happened and then I felt like it was a chaos inside. Some alters were very scared and I know that there's one protector alter that is very scared of trusting and being dependent etc.

I don't have much more communication than that. I've never switched (as I know of), but I think that I've lost time in the past when things were bad (I suspect that things has been worse than what I know of). I have a journal for us to write in, and if I feel like an alter is feeling something/wants to get anything out, I write it down there. It's pretty empty though and it's mostly my feelings that I write down...

I don't want to push anyone and it's important to me that they feel like they can do things when they feel comfortable doing it, but I can feel frustrated sometimes, that I don't have that much communication with my alters. After all I've been aware of them (at least one of my protector alters) for about three years now. I don't know if I'd say that I "hear" my alters (other than what I've already described, if that could be considered hearing them?). I don't know how to get a better communication since we're not switching (if we did they could have written in our journal).

I appreciate any replies, I need help with this.

Hello Little :)

We are very co-con, but do still have communication issues and from what I understand if the EP's aren't coming out they are scared of how they will be recieved. It could also be a host/prtector part keeping everyone out.

Have you tried writing a letter to the protector part, as you are aware of this part I think it would be helpful to start here, they are already willing to communicate or at least seem more open to the communication. Perhaps you could write a letter to this part, they will know you are writing to them and will watch.

Are you getting any other communication, i.e. in dreams or day dreams, sometimes it's easier for parts to communicate like this.

We also wrote a novel in our head before we knew we were DID and have since discovered this was alters communicating, though we really had no idea at the time.

Hope this is helpful.

Thank you blu. :)

I don't think I've written to my protector alter, such as a letter or anything like that. I've tried to communicate inside though, having "meetings" (that hasn't worked so far, though). Sometimes I talk to "them" (I usually address all my alters when talking) out loud, saying like "I get that maybe you don't want me to share these things, but I really need to vent right now" (the alter is very scared of people hurting us and getting close to anyone, but I, the host, is in very much need of human affection). Sometimes when I feel like they're upset inside, I acknowledge it like "I see you're upset right now, lets do something to calm down" etc. I think that they hear me but I guess the thing is that I haven't really gotten any answers or communication in return...

I'm a bit worried that I miss out on them trying to communicate with me, since there are many different ways of communicating. I feel like I'm giving them plenty of space though, writing and talking... I'm thinking that maybe they're not comfortable reaching out, but I don't see what I'm doing "wrong"/how to make it better for them (if the problem is that they don't feel comfortable, that is).
