Hello there.

Postby 19 Square Sides » Mon May 20, 2013 2:15 am

Hello there. I'm not exactly "new" here, since I made my account two years ago, but this is the first time I'm really here with purpose.

I would love to introduce myself, but first, what I'd really like to ask is: Is this a safe place? You see, we've wanted to post here on several occasions, but fear of safety has stopped us many times. I'm afraid we can be a bit sensitive.

We've been diagnosed with DID and PTSD (by two different therapists) and are currently seeing someone. We're also part of a group therapy.

Is this a place for friends/friendly interaction, or more of a place to get information?

Thank you.

Well, hello to both (all) of you! I suppose for now you can call me Wrenn. I'm host/front for the System. It's a pleasure to meet you!

Sorry about the nervousness, I just get worried at times. I even thought about using just "W" but it seems silly and a bit over the top.

Hello :)

From what I have seen and felt first hand this is a safe place to be and there are very friendly people in the DID forum. This place is very supportive, we can ask questions, get information and you can make friends on here. The forums on this web-sight might be more vocal, but this part and the website as a whole is very supportive, helpful and non judgmental.

We too can get sensitive also, why I like this place. If you ever feel unsafe or to much is happening to handle please let someone know.

I hope this place helps you :D
good luck :D

What I'm really looking for is just a place to be ourselves, maybe make a few friends who can relate to the oddities of DID and such.

How is advice handled here? Like if I have advice for another user, as long as it's constructive and kind, may I post it do you know?

Hey,

This place is as safe as a public internet forum can be! There are a whole bunch of very warm, very kind and caring people here. You will begin to recognise faces as you spend more time here and it is that part of this place that I love. There are a couple of very attentive moderators here as well that help keep this place safe and a positive place to be (SaltedLipstick and LifeLongThing).

But of course this is a public site and it is the internet so things can't be perfect 100% of the time. Just be cautious of what you share about yourself, as you are encouraged to do through the forum rules. I have been here a while now but I still enter this place with a bit of a barrier up because I have had a couple of instances of being received wrongly (and I am a sensitive person so know to protect myself from things at all times).

Saying that, we would love to get to know you, as we do everyone here! We appreciate people sharing their experiences and discussing things with each other because it means we learn a lot and can apply things people have learnt about themselves to our own situation.

Hope you stay for a little while :)
