Embarrassing ‘From the Couch’ moments…(in fun)

Postby Sotrsab » Tue May 14, 2013 3:54 pm

I’m going out on a limb here & I pray that I don’t regret being so bold. I hope nobody has been in embarrass-ville like this, but hey, in the world of DID I can’t imagine embarrassment not existing. I’m hoping to feel so ‘not alone’, I guess. I’m just wondering if anyone would dare to share some ‘from the couch’ moments that hopefully they can laugh at now but were embarrassing at the time. When I do/say something of this nature I find it very difficult to face my T again – though he has NEVER shamed me & I’m certain never will. Yesterday was one such day.
My angry part was out in Royal Fashion. I find her behavior very embarrassing to my character. We ended up storming out very early into the double session. Because we have done this in the past, my T has begun telling us that he will have to charge us for the session if I don’t stay. (I’m currently on full disability, my appointments being paid by Medicare & my supplemental.) My angry part has always stated that she doesn’t care, but this time she used a much more colorful phrase & threw her credit card at him (literally) before storming out.

Another EFTC moment: However long ago, we got up to leave prematurely as well, & my T stood in front of the door to make me stay. (I was in a self-harm state so he was totally within his right to do so.) We have a ‘no-touch’ rule so he reasoned I would sit back down instead of pushing him out of my way, not that I could. I did sit back down, but in his chair not on the sofa, and grabbed my folder containing his notes about me. He reached out and took his folder back and I continued to demand he let me leave. He didn’t. In my angry alter’s defense, she gave him full warning that something nasty would happen if he didn’t let us go. It did. I smacked the folder out of his hand so hard that it spilled out all over the floor. Then, an angry child alter began ripping up the pages!

I don’t know how I can face him again after yesterday! I will though. I can’t have that be his last impression of me. Anyone else care to share a moment or two?

M (our cat/panther alter) has come out on multiple occasions where she will just sit there and purr and sit and do the whole scratchy-claws thing that some cats do when they're happy.

A (2 year old) has came out and would sit there and just suck on her hand and say in a baby voice "light" at her ceiling lights and stayed out for a good while to just watch it.

.. Just a couple of the top of my head :P

Not really litterally from the couch, but well, I post it anyway.

Demi once didn't get the meme of the breakup we had with our ex-girlfriend, couple days later she managed to come across our ex-girlfriend, still thinking that we were in a relationship.....

Our old T had a fish. One client was coming in as we were leaving, and the lady was observing the fish, and Frog looked at her and squealed, 'That is a nice fish I named it Princess Bubbles Scale Mittens.'

This isn't on a couch but our cat Boo came out once during a college lecture, sat beneath the desk, and licked his "paws".

LLT,
Thanks for your response. I posted earlier a response to yours but it disappeared apparently.

Said something like...I think both are very cute, but I could see how they might be embarrassing to you because I have had for a while now a vision of my 'sucking my thumb' type session, & although this has not ever happened (I web-cam all my sessions) I would be so embarrassed at age 51 to see me doing this in front of my T.

Galaxies,

Thanks too for sharing. It is feeling so alone with the embarrassing stuff that makes therapy so difficult for me anyway. At least with this thread I am beginning to feel normal in my abnormal world.

Amber,
You made a very sweet choice, your kitty is beautiful :D

Sotsrab, my 'angry alter', Gemma, does that kind of thing practically every session  She's called the T names, tried to kick his table over, stormed out of the room, torn things up, thrown things on the floor, you name it! In fact, I can hear her now, cheering your alter on :D You're not alone!

Gonna be completely honest and say, I don't find it embarrassing at all when she behaves like this... I think it's kind of funny   :D Plus, I feel like a T should be able to deal with stuff like that. Actually, we've been through three Ts in the past six months, one decided she couldn't work with us because of Gemma's behaviour, one was very cool about it but we had to leave there for other reasons. The current one it's still early days. I'm trying to keep Gemma a bit calmer because I don't want to get kicked out again
