The inner communication system Kit put in place is a very smart one! Good job Kit!

Rest well! It takes time to find the balance between "exercising" and "not over doing it". You'll find the right balance eventually. Take care!

___
Myself I've been feeling the ADHD component of my mental health with more and more intensity as the integration increases. I need to develop new skills to balance the hyperactivity. One step at a time, I guess!

How would you balance the ADHD?

We're having a rest day (no walk) today so don't have to waste energy getting dressed and being jiggled about on the scooter for hour! No exercise for me this week just moving slowly from room to room with rollator.

Mr Woof unusually didn't want to play ball at the field yesterday, he's usually so keen to get off lead for a good charge about. We'd already ordered a trial pack of a different supplement for his joints as weren't getting brilliant results from the others.

The new one's arrived yesterday so we're trying double dose as recommended for the first month. If these don't work we might have to consider whether he needs to start a prescription medication rather than just joint supplements. We'll try just shorter on lead only walks while the new supplement builds up in his system. Will see how we both feel tomorrow before deciding whether we will need another rest day!

Just gonna make something light to eat then going back to lie down and let dog lie outside in the sun (can see him in garden from bedroom). I think everyone agreeing to completely rest even on the inside at the same time has helped.

I think we going to have to find a new way to operate going forwards as we age! ..well the body ages...some of us still think we're kids in there!!

Replying simply because I'm the one reading this right now. We told her and she took it very well, she had several questions one might expect, and while she didn't know much about it she was accepting and open to learning more.

hi, im kinda new. i never posted before. my name is Robin im 18 and i just need to ventilate a bit. They call me a persecutor alter, i hate that name. anyway. we are currently admitted and it makes me feel very closed in and afraid. Im sick of it. sick of everything. and one of our child alters is scared of me cause i can get mad at them and i dont wanna be. i feel for her but im just so fed up with everything. life sucks if you ask me and im tired of living it. I also get very bad panic attacks from reliving sexual trauma and it just sucks. Im exhausted and i feel so alone because nobody seems to value me as a person. nobody likes me being around.
there are just so many feelings and im unable to cope with them.
Im happy i can write here. thanks
- robin

@ Yuna : regarding ADHD, I have a few anchoring techniques that help me re-focus more. Apparently zinc supplements can help some people too. I also try to catch the moments I enter hyperactive mode and get off of screens for an hour at that time, or if it's on the evening, cut all screens starting 8 PM. I also have all notifications cut automatically past 9:30 PM except for a few emergency phone numbers.

@ Robin from The ParadoxCalledMe : "persecutor" is an out-of-date name for "maladapted protector" meaning, a protector who does not know how to protect the system without hurting it but still does their best. It's completely valid to be fed up about all the bad stuff happening! Anybody would be fed up after a while, really. Especially with the loneliness that comes with being a maladapted protector!

Luckily things can evolve and change, tensions can be eased up. Happy that you feel safe enough to post here, and welcome on the board!

Hi Robin,

There's also this thread that can be a good place to vent about things with other protectors:

dissociative-identity/topic170737-740.html?hilit=protectors%20venting%20advice#p2283735

Sorry you're stuck in a closed-in place. It would be really hard for us to not be able to get out and walk and ride our bike and stuff. Hope it helps to be there and you get out soon.

We are feeling a little stronger this morning. After 2 days complete rest we managed to drag ourself out of bed early and get Mr Woof to nearest field. He was back to his usual self and keen to get to the field with his favourite ball! :D

Managed to put the splints on so could manage the couple of steps between parking scooter next to swing frame and getting to the seat to have a little swing...Little Susie was delighted! ..and also came out briefly to play ball with the dog for a bit :D

It's going to be really hot here so trying to organise stuff...got a mild veggie chilli in the slow cooker so it cooks itself ..will just have a bit in taco's with salad later this evening when it cools down again (freeze the rest for another low energy day). Doggy is having his breakfast while I just check emails and put a food shop in for just fresh stuff.

Then will get a shower when it starts getting too hot as the heat will exhaust me anyway so can go rest for hottest part of the day and get up again later. Found the fan! ...so keeping front room dark and cool to rest in later when sun moves round back cos bedroom turns into an oven later until about 7-8pm! (depending how hot it gets and stays).

This Heatwave might do us a favour as it forces us to rest and organise our day better to make sure the dogs needs are still fitted in. We hope to be back on track by next week!

Good luck with the heat wave! It's hitting my area today too. I open everything wide when it's still cool outside, then when the outside temperature reaches 18-20°C, I close everything and keep the rooms in the dark. I let some light in later in the evening in the rooms that do not have direct light to keep the plants alive, and open the windows when the temperature is cooler outside than inside.

I hope I'll make it out of this alive. Time to sew a lighter kilt for this summer I think, the winter one is kinda too hot now, even with summer socks instead of the thick whooly winter socks. Let's hope this week end will be cool enough to get the sewing machine out!

Think may have overdone things a little yesterday even though I broke things down into really small periods of activity - except for shower/hair washing that takes me quite a while.

Despite setting an alarm that went off every 5 mins for 30 mins I could not manage to get out of bed early enough to get the dog out before it started heating up, temps are gonna be in the 30's today and no breeze either today so it won't feel cooler than the actual temp!

Gonna have to skip a walk today and try for tomorrow when it's meant to be cooler for longer early AM. Really need to try and get back to managing to walk the dog everyday though it's hard when I can't switch the walk to early afternoon instead because its too hot in the middle of the day as still need to avoid peak times of other people being about. Hoping the heatwave will be over soon!
