Wow

Okay, so a barrier broke and now I've realized that I haven't been seeing my alters as they really look. I was giving them appearenced based on how I thought they looked. Only probalem is that I realized that without the faces given to them, it's a blur and I can't uite make out their features. Has anyone ever done that before?

The only alters that actually look the way I originally saw them is Logan and Lulu.

Have you tried to have each alter describe what they look like (to themselves) ?

I think we sometimes expect things to be a certain way and then are able to trick ourselves with it. I wish you the best of luck with this.

I'm sometimes wondering about this. With one alter in particular I saw him having a particular appearance at first, and after a few weeks he suddenly completely changed. I wonder how much of what they look like is me imagining them and how much is really them revealing what they look like.

Yeah, I always saw Lori with blonde hair and her appearence was way different, but I read a post of Galaxies on here where she described having alters as like people beng in a car together and then I suddenly got an image of a completely different girl in the back seat, laughing. Something just told me it was Lori and now, I know that it's her real appearence. It's not simply my forced and mad eup appearence. Like Logan's, I made no effort for his appearence, but the others, I admit were highly imagined. Now I just need to let things take it's course and stop putting effort in there. I need to let things flow.

i can't find the thread right now that explains it more, but cassandra actually accidentally ended up changing most of our appearances through assumptions she made, projections of what she thought we "should" look like, and forgetting what we originally looked like when she first started discovering us (before she knew that we were alters and about DID at all).


and then sometimes alters change their appearances by choice, sometimes just because they want to, other times to symbolize something like growing up or changes in their personality or something like that, etc.


so alters appearances can change and sometimes can be accidentally changed without anyone really being aware of it at first too. maybe have the alters themselves describe, draw, or find a picture similar to what they think they look like/want to look like/know they look like?
