How often do your alters switch or come out?

Is it constant? Or do you go days, weeks or months as just the host?

I know that some alters might stay dormant for years, but I'm talking about how long it is for any alters at all?

It's pretty inconsistent, but there are definite "regular" alters, which are alters that come out/switch the most often, and then there are definitely alters who don't come out/switch for days to years.

But for me, it's pretty constant in the sense that I rarely go a full day without someone else coming out/switching at least once. (In fact, I can't remember the last time/day that a switch didn't happen... I know it's been a while).

What usually happens is that if a switch doesn't happen all day, it will happen once I'm at home and starting wind down for the night (usually a little comes out).


Really thinking about it, I don't think I've ever had months go by without at least one switch. Days, possibly, weeks possibly but highly unlikely, but not a month, much less months.

I had a period of intense denial where I didn't switch for months, they all just kind of "disappeared" in a sense to me. But that was a rare case and normally I switch a couple times a day.

Liam: I'm the host and now I don't switch at random that often. It depends on how stressful my life is at the moment on how randomly I switch. Alice and Lionel, our inner world therapists, are helping everyone cope in stressful situations. Since we have ways to calm ourselves down, we are more co-conscious when another alter is out and switching is more planned. Usually the adults come out during therapy to help explain stuff to our therapist. Even though the adults do show emotions and do have bad days, they usually can explain troubling stuff in a calm matter. The adults don't front for that long, but they are usually co-concious and will give excellent advice to an alter having trouble. Usually the kids are out when they want to play or if they are scared. A lot of the littles are scared of the dark so they usually front during the night. Now I have a nightlight in my room so they won't be that scared. I have collected a good amount of toys for them too, so they like playing with the toys in my room. The teens are usually out during school since most of them are at the same level of ability that I am at in my schoolwork. It is really cool when I will get anxious about not knowing how to do a problem and one of them will tell me they can handle it. Then they will front and solve the problem usually getting it right.

Usually, if we're not counting stuff we do on here (as then the activity rises tremendously) we switch anywhere from 20-80 times in a normal day (20 being the average lately now that things are very calm and, in many ways unfortunately, the kids haven't been out as much, and 40-80 being our general average).
