alter = the abuser in the past?

Postby woodreus18 » Sun Feb 17, 2013 2:19 pm

is it possible that the alter is your real Dad/Mom who abused you or gave you too much pressure? and the alter (looks like your Dad/Mom) hates the original personality quite much??

and is there any similar case??

if possible, what are the possible solutions in order for them to cooperate better? (the alter even doesn't know he himself is an alter, but thought that he is really the real Dad/Mom)

hope someone get what i mean~
thanks!

To me, this sounds like an introject, which is actually unfortunately somewhat common. I can't help much, but I hope this at least helps you a bit

Yup. This is normal. Almost everyone, multiple or not, has abusive mental scripts or even ego states that are introjects of their parents or other childhood caregivers.

However, the parental introject alter is more complex than a mere image of the parent. The alter holds valuable good qualities of your self, and beneath the negative affects are concealed positive affects.

if the alter is really an introject, what would be the possible solutions for raising the cooperation and co-consciousness?
thank you

I'm really fuzzy right now, but here's a thread that might be helpful to you:

What makes an Introject?: http://www.psychforums.com/dissociative-identity/topic106704.html

I'm too fuzzy to think up the words I want to say, so I'll have to copy&paste from part of a reply of mine from the above thread if that's ok..

You can try to communicate with them just like any other alter, but be careful about it. I only say this because you'll want to prepare yourself for things you might hear, what they might say to you, how they might make you feel, etc. Because you can't let them get to you, or break you down, and you have to be prepared for what can come of interacting with them. That's all. Otherwise, go for communication. The more you can learn about this introject and understand why they do what they do, the better you'll be able to learn how to try and work with them and such.

Best of luck with everything.

I don't know if this will be of much help, I'm super fuzzy right now, but I think it relates to this topic so I figured it might then help in some way possibly. This could be really triggering so read with caution because it deals with denial, discussion among alters, trying to convince an introject of the DID, dealing with an introject's denial, and some arguing. (I'm not posting it at page one, I'm giving you the link to the page where the discussions with the introject really start).
