Ok, this is very likely not going to make sense to anyone, sure does not to me but I have to get it out of my system (no pun intended).
*Trigger warning for pseudo-religious-heretic rant mentioning dark entities*
So, many systems we have met, including our own, contain entities that could be considered „dark“ or „demonic“. There are angry, nasty, violent alters out there. We have a few of our own. We are fully aware that these entities have their purpose within their systems, that they often are protectors or guardians, or maybe abuser introjects of some sort, that in some way help the system’s stability. We do not judge these alters and we treat them with the same respect we treat everyone.
But.
We know this one system that contains something we cannot even begin to describe. It is not anger. It is not hostility, violence, sadism or anything so…well, intentional. We don’t even know if it is an alter as such, it is just pure. ######6. evil.
You see this system, or parts of it, are obsessed with determinism. They can go on for hours and hours about the idea that everything is pre-determined and that there is no such thing as free will. Now, if you wanted to psychoanalyse that then of course there is some logic to this, in that a person who had their free will forcibly removed would think there is no such thing. But that is not all there is to it.
This philosophy, if you want to call it that, and the way they throw it around is just…well, the spiritual equivalent of a full on nuclear assault. Now, we are no pussies round here and we are well equipped to deal with aggression coming our way in an appropriate manner. But the last time they unleashed this thing on us we RAN (well, crawled) the opposite way. When we got around to inspecting the damage it turned out that the better part of our inner world was burned to the ground. Took us a while to rebuild. The point is: how the ###$ did this happen?
The thing with determinism of course is this: if there is no such thing as free will, then there can be no such thing as morality. If all your thoughts and actions are pre-determined, then you cannot be held responsible for your actions. This opens the door to merry moral depravity – or to be more precise, the absolute absence of morality. There simply is no right or wrong under these circumstances.
The thing is: this alter (or group of alters, or piece of mental programming or whatever it is) is the most diabolical thing we have ever encountered. It wreaks havoc within their own system and in the lives of everyone around them. We won’t say this thing is the devil, because in our system we are actually quite fond of old Lucifer on some level – what with being a rebel against God, the old tyrant. At least Lucifer has some sort of revolutionary cause (whether you agree with it or not). But this thing is like acid, it burns holes in the souls of everyone around it. It is impossible to refute on a rational level (well, so far, we’re looking into it) and it makes it impossible for the system in question to even begin to consider healing (because that would involve choice, of course).
If anything, it is the vilest introject in the ######6 history of man: a piece of programming that by its very inner logic makes it impossible to see the evil that was done to them and call it such. And now they’re walking around inflicting the same on others – not by mistake or against their own better judgement but because of the utter absence of anything that could be called a conscience. They mock the idea of such a thing as a conscience even existing – but at the same time, they revel in their own depravity, roll around in their own filth and gleefully destroy any shred of innocence or kindness they see in anyone, because after all, trying to be a good person is just delusional in the face of the screaming pointlessness of it all.
Soul-destroying is the only appropriate term.
So, not sure what kind of answer I expect to this, but I had to put it out there somewhere – every time I think of it I feel like I’m losing my mind, and not in the good old “voices in my head” way.
