Worried for safey triggerwarning

Postby spanky_spee » Sat Feb 09, 2013 7:24 am

after recent events

Since all my most unstable alters have surfaced I'm not sure what to do.
If my system collapses they run rampant I can't control them switching out and they are all for blood lust. sounds lame and stupid but one of them has switched out before and violently attacked someone but I had no recollection of it (eye witnesses). I can't imagine the Idea of quitting work to go in as an inpatient for awhile or still risk loosing my job finding a T.

If my system doesn't collapse things will be fine! But if it does I have to still have to figure out away to keep us from losing what we've all worked for over the years. a job. close friends & family. I'm not ready to give up. any advice.

I don't know why you'd risk losing your job for finding a therapist. Your job doesn't have to know you're in therapy, and therapy could be a huge help in helping you cope with these things and get things a bit more under "control". I think you should look into therapy, even if it's not DID-focused, look into maybe PTSD therapy, trauma processing therapy, grief therapy even, (I suggest these things because it's what I was put into therapy for but I was able to use what I learned/got help with in that therapy to help with many of my DID issues). If you have anxiety, look into therapy for that. Any one of these things if you can get therapy for can help with DID issues as well.

Work on grounding techniques, being aware of triggers, learn/watch out for any "warning signs" for switches, take plenty of "me" time for yourself so that you don't get so overwhelmed or stressed out or burnt out, take time everyday to relax/calm your mind best you can, etc. Is there any way you can get help from others inside to keep alters at bay, at least during inappropriate times? Is there any way you can give these alters safe outlets, like watching violent movies, or hitting a pillow, or listening to angry music, or writing/drawing out what they'd like to do, or doing something physical like exercise, or something like that?

It's important to recognize and accept that our health, mental and physical, needs to come first and be priority one. So if you do need to go to in-patient, don't put it off. Your job comes second to your health. I know it can be very hard, but if you don't take care of yourself, you'll only make things worse for yourself, and you can make the outcome of this situation worse by putting off taking care of yourself as well.

Best of luck with everything. Hope things calm down soon.
