Overlapping 'bodies'

Postby ManyHearts » Wed Feb 06, 2013 2:18 pm

I encountered one of our abusers on my way to the trainstation today, and i felt dave trying to get out to hurt that person. I didnt feel like i was being pulled inside, i felt like his body was overlapping mine and mine started fading. Before i felt like i was completely gone florette took over and walked away. Anyone know what that feeling was?

Argh! I wrote a long reply to this then lost it trying to post. I didn't save the text in an external text file first. Anyway, briefly...

Hello Abby et al. Welcome to the DID Forum! I know you have been here for months already but I don't recall saying hello before.

What you describe is a normal experience for many systems here. There are not overlapping bodies; instead, there are overlapping alters briefly occupying one body. This is a form of co-presence. It is more integrated than a possession state and on the way to co-consciousness and full integration.

There is a progressive sequence of experiences, corresponding to the extent of internal communication available to you.

1. Losing time without being aware you are losing time.

2. Losing time but when you come to, knowing immediately that you have just lost time.

3. Possession. You are dissociated, either shoved out of your body into the air or into a void or inner world in the body, while someone else has full executive control of your body.

4. Co-presence in the body. You have a peculiar characteristic sensation of an echo in your body. It is as if another being flows into and occupies your limbs.

5. Co-consciousness, blending that includes sharing the body.

6. Fusion.

Yup.
This is co-consciousness, or a form thereof, as well as co-presence/co-existence, and sounds like some possible beginnings of blending. And being aware of it as well. This is common and quite normal, and is the sign of progress, so congratulations!

Una, thank you for posting that. It clarifies a lot.
Dx: PDD-NOS. Tested for dissociative disorders and PTSD but they say the symptoms are attributable to PDD-NOS.
