Poem (*Trigger Warning*)

Every night
Every day
locked in a battle from long ago
ever-fresh
on-going
unrelenting

I live it all out
in my body
in my thoughts
in my splintered psyche
in emotions assigned to the others to feel for me

because
ironically
i cast off myself
in self-defense
