Shay/Shadow is not a wolf in my inner world. She's a dolphin!
Maiingan explained to me that while as a whole we have one spirit animal/guide (which is the wolf), individually we identify with different animals, and different animals can be more of a guide to us individually. Maiingan also explained to me that my inner world has the alters as animals because in my world, we're more likely to be our "spirit animals" (why this is true in my world, I'm not sure. I think it might be because L.C. and I were pretty big on spirit animals and our Native American heritage during the year I hosted).
Shay's spirit animals is the dolphin. Dolphins are intelligent, they communicate in their own way, they can have obvious different personalities, they live in water/are aquatic, and they live in groups.
Shay is intelligent, she has her own way of communicating, she absolutely loves water (watching it, swimming in it, etc), and loves rain as well (though she hates being cold and wet at the same time, and hates being wet when she's supposed to/wants to be dry), and she lives in a "group" (our system) despite the fact that she doesn't have a very social personality (at least, not in person).
So, yeah, in my inner world, Shay's a dolphin, which I think fits her perfectly! She looked so happy, too, jumping in and out of the water and clicking away and not having anyone tell her things like "people don't click, they talk". (She actually used to get made fun of and called "dolphin speaker" or "the dolphin whisperer" for her clicking in school). It was awesome to see her be herself, lost in her own world and clicking away, but enjoy it and be happy about it.

(So, I'm not sure who the dark gray wolf was that I thought was Shay, or maybe I assumed that Shay would appear as a wolf and sorta "made myself" see her or something, but either way, I'm sure I'll figure it out in time).
