Temporary Paralysis?

Postby ManyShadesOfMe » Sat Jan 19, 2013 3:40 am

Just curious if anyone has ever had this happen? Not as in sleep paralysis, I mean, limbs actually not moving at all, kind of paralysis.

My husband and I stopped at an antique mall today. It brought back a memory from when I was about 7 or 8 when my mom had taken me to an antique mall. I didn't want to go bc my legs had been hurting and were weak, but she made me go anyway. The next morning when I woke up for school, both legs hurt really bad and were completely paralyzed. I literally scooted on the floor by my hands with my legs dragging behind me lol. I know I missed that day of school, and I think the next, but forced myself to go back after that even though I was still very weak and in pain (I hated being at home). She refused to take me to a doctor or hospital bc she said it was just a growth spurt causing it.

This was also around the same time I began waking up in the mornings with absolutely no memory of anything...my name, my family, where I lived, nothing...everything was just a blank, and would usually take almost a full day to get back most basic memory of myself. I also had a few other big DID symptoms popping up around this time in my life, too, from what I can remember.

I am wondering though, if this might possibly be DID, PTSD, or trauma related somehow? So, that's why I'm curious if anyone else has had this happen anytime in their lives.

I had horrible growing pains and did indeed have days wherin I was completleyunable to walk. Mom didnt take me to Doctor, said it was growing pains. BUT, she didnt take me to th e doctor much adn Ihave several severe health issues/conditions due to not htaving proper care in modern times
I actually have ahd parathesias acting up since the Penn state absue store in 2011.

my left side of my face, mouth chin, arm and hands are all numb adn stingy. I was tested for a stroke especially since i had one already when I was a kid (and didnt get to ssee te doctor until i nearly DIED!). I dont eat, but a few of my others have the same sensation. They say all food tates like gravey. BUt not all of us feel this.
TRIGGER WARNING !!!!!!!... it triggers us to remember being slapped really hard in the face by abusers and users ad being shaken adn aslo ICK haveing to give blow jobs as a childnad getting the stuff allover my face when they guys came.
END warning......
I used my left side to "do" stuff I was forced or felt I had to do. I am right handed. Asnyay the parathesia is geting owrse again. it seems like my facd has something weiging onit nad it is droopeda nd numb

Yes our limbs have been numb. I went to a doctor and they sent me to a shrink.

Thank you for all the responses! This is just another piece of the puzzle I'm trying to figure out. Since my mom never took me to the doctor when this happened, I'll probably never really know whether it was simply a neurological issue, or something there was no explanation for.

Every doctor I've seen has told me I'm physically healthy for my age. Anytime I've ever expressed any other odd physical problems like headaches, memory loss, constant all over body pain, I was always told it was just stress, so nothing was ever looked into further. I've always had severe gyn problems, but no dr has ever been able to find a cause or reason for any of it from any of the tests they've done.

Sometime within the last 6 months, I had a similar issue with my calves, though. I could still walk, but barely, and it was very painful. I think it lasted about a week. I can't remember what was going on around at that time to psychologically trigger it, but I know physically there was no apparent cause to the sudden onset.

So, I think from your responses, I may just toss this into the 'possible body memories' pile for the time being.

I'm sorry you had to go through all of that :( and that's terrible they say food tastes like gravy. I have issues with foods that aren't solid. Mashed potatoes, jello, pudding, stuff like that...it makes me gag...always has. Now, that I have an idea of what happened to me as a kid, it would make a lot of sense why that is. I still do eat some of those things, like I love mashed potatoes, but I usually mix in my vegetables into it, like corn to give it some texture, something to chew. I couldn't imagine all food tasting like gravy though.

Oh. I get the texture thing .some little parts in my system call that stuff from men soup....they dont know better. Many in my system get creeped out by some textures.....meats, large sandwiches and things. I see the dentist soon and they are used to my trauma...such as gagging. And jaw issues ...no fun.take care.sorry to hear. About your not getting taken do the doctor either.
