Question about religion *possibly triggering*

Postby TooCloseToTheEdge » Thu Jan 03, 2013 8:29 pm

Here is the thing. In our system, I've noticed that we have different beliefs when it comes to divinity. I consider myself Catholic, while Sara says that she believes in Islam, some are Jewish (like Belle), while some others are atheists or agnostic and we were baptized when we were babies, because we were born Orthodox. I don't know much about others' beliefs, but I'll go around and ask. I am starting to be very confused and have questioned my religion since Christmas, because not everyone inside celebrated it the same, and the way we did outside just didn't feel right. I am just curious how it is for everyone else...

Hi. I am Belle. I am mute. Haven't been out for a long time until recently, and what Lexi says is true. I celebrated Hanukkah inside, because that is what feels right for me, and that is what I believe in. Anyway, I've noticed that our mom doesn't accept us being religious in any way. Lexi wanted to fast for Christmas, and she just wouldn't let us. We tried hiding it, but as she is forcing us to eat dinner w/ her, and she is usually cooking meals with meat, or cheese, that wasn't an easy task.

For us religion is really specific to each person. Like I am an atheist and I don't really get religion but others do inside and that's cool with me. Jade is catholic. Linn is a little pagan in that her religion is all about nature but she also thinks Jesus, Buddha, and Muhammad were cool guys with good messages. Lola is a lazy Buddhist lol like she has a tactical view of it and applies some general philosophies, but maybe "The Seven military Classics of Ancient China" is closer to her "bible". Gemini is agnostic. Ell is... Well Magdella is a priestess of a death cult, and in Ell there is a witch, a vodun practitioner, a necromancer, a lesser priestess, a prophet (who I think is just stoned but that's my guess) and one kinderkin who wants to be Jewish... We all respect each others choices but outside holidays are always awkward kinda like when you come out and find the body in something you'd never wear that someone else picked and you just have to flaunt it even though it doesnt fit you right. Jade does her church thing on Christmas, and Linn bakes a meal and bites her tongue about it being a "stolen holiday" (she mentions that the day after) and Ell really really hates Jesus and especially Mary so she will frown lots and maybe says once or twice "Have you read Revelations? Then you are aware your God is a terrorist" or something, but she'll back off after a few jabs and Jade and the kids do their thing anyway, just like we don't interfere with Ell rituals. Religion is a personal thing and as individuals who share a body we gotta give everyone space to do their own religious stuff (with the exception of ell because she can't be running around starting a cult outside our body, though she does have an altar in the apartment). So when a holiday rolls around that applies to someone's religion we let them go for it and practice and be active in it, and try to be supportive even though it is weird feeling a bit. Usually there isn't much animosity. :) did this help at all? Probs not.... Sorry I didn't know what to say.

We too have several different religions in our system *obviously trigger warning for religion*:

Many of the kids just follow the religion that most of us follow, the one who's rituals we follow. Those that actually believe in this religion (I'm not comfortable saying which) is Lin, Anastasia & Nin, and I believe also Key & Aicha. I follow this as well because I respect them - I personally though am more or less agnostic (I'd land somewhere between that and atheist, closer to agnostic though).

Jacob & Cassie are pretty relaxed Christians. They believe in Jesus but they're not overly Christian.
I'm not sure what Eliesa is actually..
Leo is wiccan.
No Name is part of Plain people, but I'm not sure what branch she is anymore. Her lifestyle is Quaker but you can be Quaker without being Christian even so I'm not sure what she is.

Those are the one's I know something of at least.

We have different religions in our system as well. I'm a Pagan, Nadia is Catholic, Michael is Southern Baptist, Amelia is athiest, and I'm not sure on the others.

For us we just pretty much stay as open as we can to the different beliefs. In fact we've never really had a problem of it, though there is disaproval amongst us over some things but we don't really make it an issue.

I'd write more, but my cold medicine is making me have trouble concentrating.

I'm an Atheist but I like Buddhism. I will sometimes refer to myself as an Atheist Buddhist. I don't particularly like the religious aspects of Buddhism but I like what it teaches and I try to stick to that but when it comes to views on whether there is a divine power or not I'm an Atheist.

Everyone else in my system seems to be Atheist or at the very least Agnostic so we pretty much have the same views and we've never had arguments over it.

I noticed my admin would be pagan,wicca,neo-wicca,buddist and just in general spiritual in any equation. She has a seperate section where she can practice what she likes in the head.

I myself believe in God and Goddess masculine and femimine (excuse my spelling)...And that goddess is technically are ultimate creater along with God.Both polarities to me wouldn't exsist without the exsistence of the other hence male female.good bad and in everything those two exsist within each other... you learn to combine the two is ultimate harmony. But I don't have a religion.

Grace is wicca

Jeremy is an atheist

Barry is a satanist

85% of us believe in goddess, mother earth

We have a lot of variation too. Everything from pagans to Catholics to Secular Buddhists. I know a lot of these there is so much variation stems from the FOO. It's kind of a hard topic with several members of our group, so we don't talk about it very much.
We're not invited.

For my system (hall) religion is very scary , hurtful, painful etcc. We dont want to feel this way. ALL of us have ties to catholisism. MY kids wen to catechism just as my self and my husband did. After my first major break down in the late 1990's I got what is like a delusion of reference. I feel the priest is talkin g about me and to me infront of veryone at church. HE is sayin g i am bad very bad and evil adn I do not do what i s right.I have cut fdruing a service. Basically a very bad person. I began crying so hard each time, that myself outerworld family quit attending. Even weddings a nd attending other religous experinces still I feel focus on my badness .IT is not grandiose..jsut a form of a delusion set up by my sustem. As a child we attended church weekly adn i remember being ill a few times and told i was still going and i got sicker at church. I once asked the priest about sinning. IF mental illness incuded sin. I took it as I am not bad for being messed up adn also maybe suicide was not a sin when it was a deadly symptom of mental illness. ANyway, My mothe r dies three eyar ago. My dad sets up special masses wherein my mothers memory is honored. We go to support my Dad. IT is to the point I feel even guiltier as I try not to listen and i try not to cry, so it is like I am ignoring the significance of a special service for my Mother. I do agree with mysefl to go, My dad is so derseving of this gesture of my family attending with him. A small note... I do not have much feelin g form y Mother, maybe some day I will grieve that part. For now it is liek she doesnt matter to me much.
