Hi, I recently got a diagnosis from my therapist of trauma and DDNOS . I still have a hard time understanding what DDNOS is. I don't remember most of my life and have had times in my life were I felt like I've severed myself from who I was and had to create a new me. I also have dialogue in my head and arguments between different internal voices. I have a basic understanding of psych from college (psych 101) and personal reading but I'm having trouble understanding DDNOS and what it means. Anybody have any way of clearing this up for me, it raises more questions than answers for me right now.
Thanks

DDNOS is a diagnosis when some or most of the criteria for DID is present but there is something missing to keep you from meeting the criteria for full blown DID. Often the diagnosis of DDNOS preceeds a DID diagnosis. Basically it just means that the therapist hasn't seen evidence that you meet all of the criteria for DID but taht you definately do have a dissociative disorder. If you just research DID it should give you a pretty good understanding. I strongly recommend "The Stranger in the Mirror" by Marlene Steinberg. She covers both disorders in pretty good depth.

I have that book but haven't read much of it since I find some of it hard to read (triggers). I'll try and see if there is a specific section on DDSNOS though. Thanks for the reply.
