Past and present questionable futures

Hi

Just a short history before I start

I went through high school hearing voices massive time gaps the usual syptoms.I was in the yr 10 in high school about 15 (Australian system).I Meet this boy he was a chubby wierd and we Clicked on different scale. we discussed this and kind of blurted it to each other that this was happeing to the two of us it was scary. He did some research and we discovered what it was DID. By then I was becoming more aware of the voices there names as well as him. We became close friend bordering on inseperable we aren't as close as we used to be after many dramas with each others alters. they either got along to well or not at all.We found out we were even lucky to even have meet due to statistics.

I'm not sure whether I should let him go???. We are both practically adults now leading are own lives. But he is the only person who has ever understood what we are.

Things happen, and there will always be others that will understand. People drift apart, unfortunately, but that's part of life. He isn't the only person that will ever understand you, so don't think about it as that. Just be glad you atleast had someone to understand you so early on. But if it's more of an alter problems, and not the two hosts that are not getting along, perhaps you can try to work it out. Either by yourself, or maybe seeing a therapist (even seeing if he can go along too).

Well, do you think it would be possible to have a friendship with him that doesn't cross any boundaries or cause drama? Like, do you think you could both work out guidelines for spending time with each other, such as which alters can be out peacefully and which ones should stay inside during that time? Do you think you could both work out compromises and guidelines with each of your alters? Could you perhaps take a break and be email buddies, pen pals, have consistent phone calls with each other, or something like that until you both feel better about trying to hang out again? Can you talk to him about his opinions on whether you two should try to stay friends?

Otherwise, I agree with Tragic guardian. People drifting apart is a natural part of life sometimes, and he won't be the only person ever to understand you (you just gotta give others the same chance you gave him). If you're in therapy, perhaps you can discuss this with your therapist, I'm sure they would have some ideas about how to handle this situation.

Best of luck with this. Remember, you always have people who understand you here at least.
