We have a couple alters like that. Shay almost always ends up putting up glass (unintentionally). For us (so far at least), it's mainly just like, a sign that it's hard to switch and co-host with that alter is all.
Yeah, don't sweat it. Everything gets figured out over time is what I've learned. And if it don't, it comes pretty close to it.

janice here. so um, james and i are still hoping for a dnd thing to happen. there is no possible way to hold the dnd campaign on our end - we definitely have no dm. so, i hear that L.C. is a dm, but has no skype, so instant message seems to be not an option. is there any way we can pull this off on a forum or something? im not sure if dnd works if its not an instant response thing, since i know very little about dnd, but technically, if we all get on the forum at the same time, it can be somewhat instant response, rite?

also, i wouldnt say anything if james wasnt hounding about it, but im also curious what the problem is with getting a skype account. its free, it downloads pretty fast, i dont think it takes up much room on the computer, its instant response, i dont think the cam is necessary, we can form a group and all type together in real time and see when someone else is typing. it seems really convenient to me. can your computer not support it? or is there someone in the system that would abuse it, like use the cam inappropriately or something? im just curious.

We don't even have a camera. Just a mic. If you're cool with having our SO involved, she might be able to DM. We might be able to do something over Yahoo IM or Gmail IM or something, too.

And I dig the picture, Shay. Warm colors are my favorite and I bet Jacob can appreciate the message, too.

For us, with the skype thing, it's more of the fact that technology hates us and we don't really know how to work it, either. We might be able to set it up now that we know we don't need a cam, but it probably won't happen overnight. Doesn't help that a few of us are shy/have social anxieties, so anything extra/different than what we're used to in terms of socializing is always a bit daunting to us to try, much less get used to.

I also just realized that I know and play D&D version 4, not 3.5. So....yeah. I've heard about 3.5 and I know others that play it and could probably teach me the rules and sh*t, but what we currently play is 4, because that's what was in the game shop where we learned and just happened to be what we started out playing & DMing.
