hey,
i havent been diagnosed with anything but have been told i dissociate, well i know i do it now sometimes. My therapist has gone over grouding techniques with me, to do after it happens to 'bring me back', but I was wondering if anyone knows if there is something you can do when you feel it first start to happen? or to stop yourself doing it before it happens. because i kind of know whats going to trigger it, and i think i can stay in control, but then i cant

learn to "ground". feel where you feel best in your body. feel it? good. then feel where the "bad"stuff is taking place. Notice it? picture a better result...flashback to where someone hurt you? picture a new ending- like...hurting them, sending them into space, having them shrink and blow away...etc. then turn your thought back to where you feel most comfrotable in your body...learn to feel and to recognize what you are feeling- don't judge what you feel or think- just accept it- as a part of YOU...I find it helpful to feel my body mentally and then reach out and touch something while telling myself I am a grown woman now and what happened happened in the past. But i still get shocked sometimes- blown away and I don't ground myself...but hey..nobodys perfect! ;D good luck!
