quit 150 mg zoloft cold turky

Postby lostandconfused22 » Thu Dec 01, 2005 8:59 am

Was up to 150 mg of zoloft. It helped a little at first , but then it stop working as good , which led to making me feel worse , so I quit cold turky. Now its been like 4 days without it after being on it for 8 months. I feel this really wierd dizzy feeling. It kind of feels like my brain catches up with my eyes and feel like a buzzing kinda. Anyway I hope the withdrawl from zoloft isnt to bad , but it seems like it might suck. It really didtnt help at all and I dont want to go back to Doc because he was so ignorant that he couldnt give me a referal to a pychiatrist. Let me know if any have had this problem?

The first question I have to ask you is why would you quit medication cold turkey?

To come off medication if you feel it doesn't work needs to be monitored by your doctor and weened.

Your body sounds like it's withdrawaling still, or you could be just crashing. When I went off meds I felt fine for a bit, and then I felt like you, I felt terrible, and that was with Zoloft, and I went back on it again and that awful symptoms went away.

I'd talk to your doctor hon. Quitting meds like that is just asking for trouble, never a good idea, because your body is so used to having it in your system. You've only been off of it for 4 days? You'd be still withdrawing.

that probably isnt a good idea and it could be potentially dangerous. i think that you should consult with your doctor and have the withdrawal done very carefully and have it monitored. you would me amazed how slowly some doctors lower the dosage to get somebody off of a selective seratonin reuptake inhibitor. however it is necessary to be careful because if you go to fast it can be very dangerous.

I agree 100% with the others. I'm off of meds now, but it took me years to slowly get off of them.
Good Luck,
