Good evening. I am asking for some suggestions as to what our next move should be. My partner of 30 years has had periods of depression and anxiety since I have known him. Generally acute stages occur every 5 to 7 years and may last for a couple of months. Therapy and medication have generally worked. For about th past 5 months he has been in a depression that seems to be getting worse. His doctor has tried multiple combinations of drugs along with talk therapy. The depression is cripling to the point that he is no longer aboe to work. He wants to stay at home and in bed for most of the day. Many hours are spent crying.
I am shure that there are others that have had similar situations. Do you have any suggestion or anything else to try. What has worked? The cost of treatment is not a problem.

Find an emotional release. I don't know how much help I can be seeing as I am in the same general position as your partner. Art.. can be great.. you know what really helped me out for a few years... when I thought my depression actually went away? Exersose, I worked out nearly everyday.. I felt better.. I looked better.. and I wasn't getting depressed.. or at least I think I wasn't.. or not as much anyway... It all started again when I started working and couldn't work out. So mabey you should get him a personal trainer, go to the gym 5 - 6 days a week and see how that goes in a few months. Just a suggestion. I'm glad you care and your looking for help for him. Some people just consider leaving the person to be an easier solution. Perhaps you should also consider changing psychatrists? Diffrent people can offer diffrent solutions.. there are also more holistic ways of dealing with things.. perhaps to find whats wrong he needs to do some meditational therapy there is also hyponosis.
Hope something there helped.
