Medication help

Postby Izzy549 » Mon Jul 14, 2008 7:39 am

I really need help with this whole medication thing. First of all I was diagnoised with a depression and anxiety problem but they arent quite sure if Im not Bi polar. But i just cant seem to find a good medication. First I was on zoloft and at first it worked pretty well except the fact I couldnt hardly sleep, but then after my first visit back after being put on the medication I started to notice it was no longer working, and starting to make my anxiety and depression feel more intense.
So I got switched to Lexapro, which failed as well. I noticed I felt really slow, tired, and just completely out of it, and nothing changed other than the fact I was getting more and more frustrated with the way the medication made me feel.
So now Im on prozac, and have been on it for a little over two weeks now. And I absolutely hate it. My moods are alot more unstable then before. The anxiety and depression are just getting worse. This is so frustrating I just wanna pull my hair out.

Im just needing some other ppls experiences with medications. What seems to help other people.
Im starting to wonder if its for the fact she keeps putting me on SSRI's. Does anyone know of any other options out there medication wise. I figure this time I should just suggest something I wanna try. Because Im sick of switching around on medication.

My meds were:

Zoloft- 8 yrs until it stopped working
Celexa- couple months, bad reaction
Remeron 7 months, stopped working and made me gain a lot of weight - lost it after went off of it
Ativan & Clonazepam as needed - only have ativan now though
and i'm currently on Effexor XR and have been for 4 yrs now.

Meds can't get rid of anxiety -that is one thing that I had to learn, it doesn't get rid of it, but it can help with symptoms.

How long have you been on Zoloft and Lexapro?

I know with some people finding the right medication/dose can be stressful... the only one that didn't do well with me was the celexa, the others lasted months and years...

It can definately be frustrating, dealing with side effects and or withdrawal when tapering off another.

You can't been on the Prozac long, you said only 2 weeks? It can take longer then that for your body to get used to it, give it time.. I may have to change meds, i'll know this afternoon so I know how frustrating and anxious you get with it, i'm the same way.

Give the Prozac time to work... i know it's hard to find the right one. Hang in there.
