It would be advisable to join whatever group that you are interested in, because then you will most likely be surrounded by like-minded people. That is why - I feel - people who didn't enjoy school become happier in college (because they choose a course that they are interested in). Don't join what everybody else joins. Also, if the scouts is going well for you, then I'm sure you can become more active in that. I doubt people bother you there, right?

well in scouts, i get it a little too, and i have "friends" there, but i mean its not like i hang with them other times.

I've considered volunteering at the humane society, but i heard that i'd have to see animals being uthinized. So thats not appealing.

As for church, i used to go to conformation and stuff, but i dropped out. Due to all of this i've given up on god.

I have been looking for some sort of computer 'club' but we cant find one. So im not sure about that.

Also it may be helpful to mention, i am on Anti-Depressant. Its called Effexor. And i take medications for my asthma, allergies etc. I take cingular for asthma which was reported can cause suicide, but my doctor wants to keep my on it anyway.

Hey,

Don't worry about Cingular causing suicidal behaviour. Drugs affect people in different ways and even the one that I take (Lexapro) has been implicated to suicidal behaviour too. You deserve a pat on the back my friend becaus you seem to be actively seeking-out places that you can be comfortable in. Many people who encounter similar problems as the ones that you face retreat into their own 'shell' and don't try to socialise at all. So, that is a huge positive in your favour.

If you persist with this great attitude, you will eventually find solace somewhere.

Kevin.

I'm sorry you're on depression meds (doesn't surprise me), but it's great to hear that you're not sitting around wallowing in misery....

...... Not that I am saying that condescendingly. I've been very depressed and have been doing just that, withdrawing from everything.

When I was going on sixteen and became depressed by my life, I did as you're doing and started trying to make friends and live (fix it). I must second Kevin for this reason. With effort, you will eventually find happiness.
Simply keep doing as you're doing.

Oh, I'm on a bit of a break from trying to find a 'niche' in society for myself too. I'm 25 though, and am yet to find one. I feel like never trying again but I know that I will get more determination in the future. Maybe you should view your situation like that: A break from trying.

The Internet has been my main social input in my life for many months now.

My social outlet is my job. I talk with my co-workers and socialize with customers and kids. Then I can't wait to get home lol. To some peace and quiet.

This website is my quiet socialization. Even though it's not personal and face to face, I still enjoy being able to talk about similar issues that I have with other people who understand. I love that no matter how many annoying posts I make, noone gets on my case about it. It's very nice.

That's odd Rich because, a few years ago, I'm sure that psychologists would have said that the Internet is not a good place to be socialising. There was such anegative attitude towards it - do you remember? I have been socialising on the Internet now for 12 years since I was 13. It is a great place for people like us. I mean, what on earth would we do without it? I can envisage myself being more depressed than I already am, that's for sure.
