I have been friends with him for a long time. He has been pretty much depressed and down on himself for the entire 20 years that i have known him. Things got worse when his father passed and his luck seemed to continue to always be down. He was always looking for love and money in the wrong places and his life got bad.
He called me up one day and admitted that while shopping at Home Depot, he bought himself a strong rope. That's when I knew things were serious. Being that I am no longer living in the same state as him, I had to call on some buddies back home to help out. We arranged a bit of an intervention and confronted him to seek help. It was very difficult as he thought we were trying to turn our backs on him and lock him up instead of help him. But, he finally went into treatment. I really don't know that he got better, but at least he is still here with us today. He is still depressed and I just don't know how to help. I will say this... the A&E show Intervention has been an interesting look into the lives of people with all sorts of problems and shows how to work a successful intervention. Have any of you seen it? I wish this show had been on the air years ago when we needed the help in doing our own intervention, but at least we have it now. You can bet I will take their advice to heart in case we need to intervene again. Check out the site: http://www.aetv.com/intervention
