Prozac causing insomnia?

Postby mom2my2boys » Tue Nov 20, 2007 6:51 pm

I started Prozac 20 mg four days ago. The last two days I've had terrible insomnia. Waking constantly after only the tiniest bit of sleep. Can't fall back asleep. When I wake I feel hot and somewhat anxious. Also fidgety.

Will this get better, or do I need new meds?

Insomnia can be a side effect of prozac, it's quite common I think, and it should go away likely once your body get's used to the chemicals in your body.

Other side effects are:

headache, tremor, nervousness, or anxiety;
difficulty concentrating;
nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, or changes in appetite or weight;
weakness;
increased sweating

etc

They gave me xanax with prozac just bc of that, so I could sleep.
But xanax is crap, demetrin (prazepam)is better it doesnt cause addiction and its not bad for muscles as much as xanax.......
