Atypical depression and Tianeptine

Postby marwit » Fri Mar 03, 2017 3:44 pm

Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum

I wonder if anybody tried Tianeptine for atypical depression?

I have battled this disease since I was born, it seems to be hereditary in my family.

Symptoms are overeating, addiction to food, low mood, anxiety, hormonal problems (although results are seemingly normal).

I've had this since childhood.

I've been taking Tianeptine for 2 weeks now, it's very good for anxiety, although I feel no lift in food cravings and mood, maybe even increased appetite.

I wonder if anybody has any experiences with Tianeptine for Atypical Depression?

Thx,
marwit

Hello marwit and welcome to Psych forums!

I have not dealt with atypical depression or Tianeptine, but I do deal with bipolar depression. Depression by itself is very hard to deal with.

I hope you get more replies. :D

Hello! I am currently taking Tianeptine 3x a day and I have to say that, although I have noticed lift in my mood the first weeks, it stopped working, but I might have several other problems too.

I basicly can't stop the internal chatter in my head and my imaginary people are terribly mad with me. It is like living in a daymare. I know it sounds crazy. I don't know what it is yet nor do my psychiatrist but she referred me to psychologist and she will do further investigation.

But back to Tianeptine - I did not noticed any major issiues with Tianeptine, I think I don't have any side effects. It lifted my mood, the first weeks as I said but that is all. I returned back to my horrible mood because of my before mentioned issues. I don't know how it affected my anxieties, but it definetely did not work for my stress issues, but as I said I may have some different issues. It is important to notice that antidepressants may take some time before they start working. So maybe give it some more time, maybe they evetually will lift your mood. It may take 4 to 6 weeks... If nothing happens, consult it with your doctor, she will present some other options for you...
Good luck

Thanks for the replies.

A little update:

Yeah, it seems like Tianeptine "normalizes" my mood and maybe lifts it a little bit, but at the same time I don't notice any help in the symptoms, especially psychosomatic ones.

I have added Mirtazapine last week and I will be adding Aripiprazole next week.

Will let you know how this combo works.
