Lethargy and fatigue

Postby HopeFully » Sun Jan 08, 2017 10:45 pm

Lethargy and fatigue

I lay in the bed all the time and cant do anything.
Everything is so difficult for me and that for almost 2 years.

I am on 150 mg Sertraline, but it doesn't help and my psychiatrist doesn't want to change the medicine.

I am desperate and I don't know what to do.

I personally found that working out can seriously improve your mood. I am not in the mood for it atm but when I was working out it was a blessing. I know it might feel like an impossible task to pick yourself up and go to the gym.

Have you gotten any blood work done lately? I ask because I was having really bad fatigue and sleepiness that just got written off as a symptom of my depression for years, they put me on Wellbutrin XL 150 and when it kept getting worse upped me to 300 and still nothing.

Turns out I've also got an autoimmune problem that's attacking my thyroid.

So if you can, I'd recommend getting checked out for other things that can cause fatigue if you haven't already: thyroid, anemia, B12 deficiency, vitamin D deficiency, mono, sleep disorders...

I feel the same way right now. I'm behind on my schoolwork and am putting off seeing my friends and boyfriend because I'd rather just sleep.

Try not to oversleep or under sleep, get about 7-8 hours. This will probably be very hard, and you can nap here and there if you need to, but sleeping too much can actually make you even more tired.

I also agree with working out, or really moving around in any way. While it may be really hard, just try to do something. Little things, big things, anything. Not only will it help your mood but it will also help you not fall so far behind or miss out on things.

Have you been on Zoloft for awhile or is it recent? It made me sleepy in the first couple of weeks, but that went away. I took it for many years and it helped me.

I hope you feel better.

I can sort of relate. Depression seems to have taken away so much of my joy in life. For so long. That is now past. But I can still remember. I would suggest you talk to your doctor again or even consider changing doctors because you deserve to be treated for your illness and get the help you need!
