Switching meds, terrible side effects

Postby AgnesOblige » Tue Dec 27, 2016 5:43 am

I was on remeron for close to a year but noticed my depression was starting to get worse about 3 weeks ago, so my psychologist switched me to wellbutrin. I am aware of the common side effects, but it's gotten so bad that I can't even eat a cracker without feeling nauseous. I was already a shut-in but this medication is making it so I physically have no energy to stand up.

I took my first shower in over 3 weeks yesterday and nearly fainted/had to call someone in to help me, that was probably the last straw. I've been crying and laying in bed all day, I tried to eat some rice and that so far has led to me currently sitting in bed with a bucket next to me, I don't think I can even try to take my nighttime meds. Is there ANYTHING I can do to make these side effects lesse besides just waiting? Should I just suck it up an call the doctor tomorrow? Any advice is greatly appreciated

I think you ought to call the doctor. I'm not on antidepressants, but those sound like extreme side effects.

Hi AgnesOblige,

I really feel for you. Side-effects of a drug can be pretty awful. Sounds like you're having a really tough time. I agree with Snaga that you should talk to your doctor. If I were in your shoes, I'd be open to lowering the dosage or even changing medication. I've been through some awful, awful side-effects from prescribed medication and the only thing that worked was trying out different medications. I'm still trying to find one with side-effects I'm willing to live with. It takes time. Talk to your doctor and be persistent. I wish you luck. My thoughts are with you. You shouldn't have to live the way you describe. There are lots of drugs out there and your doctor should help you to figure out which one your body will best tolerate.

Thank you guys, I think I will call my doctor then. It's funny, yesterday I forgot to take my morning pills in the morning (usually take them at 8am, didn't remember till around 2pm) and for those few hours I was fine and eating normally :? But yes, I'll be calling my doctor today, hopefully something good comes out of it.
