I suffer from treatment resistant depression. I'm switching from Effexor, which I've been on for 10 years to clomipramine.
I am 4 weeks into the cross taper. I noticed small improvements but keep falling back into a deep depression.
Am I experiencing discontinuation syndrome from the Effexor ? When do you know when a medication is working? It seems like I should be better than I am right now. How long do I wait until it really starts working? What has been your experience ?
Thanks

I think for most meds it takes a few weeks before they are meant to be at full effect. I'd say a medication is working if symptoms are better on it than you would expect if you weren't on medication.

Some took 4 weeks, and a couple of them took up to 6 weeks like eterea107 said.
