Empty....

Postby reboot_zero » Mon Feb 19, 2007 6:06 pm

Just curious... I'm 21, and have been feeling more and more empty everyday. I am not depressed, or "down" about anything....just don't care about anything. My main question isn't if this is related to depression, but rather it's about one of the effects that has come with the emptiness.... a foggy mind. I'm to the point where I can rarely tell the difference between dreams and reality, and am constantly questioning whether or not I'm in reality. With me being so....out of it constantly, and me never seeming to care about anything...it's made me pretty stale, and I'm just wondering if this is normal signs for some type of depression. I have a psych appointment next month.... so I'm trying to get some insight where ever I can. I'm starting to think that I may have schizophrenia....but I'm not going to completely jump to that conclusion until my appointment. I appreciate any info.

reboot-

It could be depression, is your depression being treated?

Depression left untreated can get out of hand. I know.

If you question what is reality and what is not, yes keep that appt because it could be something different. It may not be schizo anything. Either way, it is treatable.

Best to you,

That's what I'm shooting for. I've done a lot of research on this empty feeling...and honestly I haven't found anyone that's expirenced the empty feeling without prior feelings of depression. Is a 'foggy head' one of the signs of depression?

If your foggy means lack of concentration... yes, maybe,
If your foggy means veiled or masked out of touch with reality, it could be something else.

Major depression untreated could do this...but your pysch would have to answer that.

It's kind of both. There has been many times that I've wondered if the lossing touch with reality comes from lack of concentration....and since dreams aren't generally always vivid...they may kind of "bland" together if you will. Is a psych the best person to see about something like this? Or is a general MD a better option? I'm actually not sure about which is the best way to go.

I think that a MD might just refer you to a psych.
So I would save my money and just go to a psych.

A psych you like, and trust. They really are good
people and the most knowledgeable. If he says you dont need me, go to your family doctor. I would listen.

The whole idea tho is for you to feel better and have mental clarity.

Hope everything works out for you.
Believe in yourself!
