I've been diagnosed with clinical depression. Is it weird to feel empty, feel nothing? I don't feel anything. I don't feel sad, and I don't feel happy. I just feel empty. Nothing makes me happy and nothing makes me sad. At school I just sit there with a blank stare and think. Nothing else. I just feel empty. My feelings are becoming very shallow, like I don't feel anything anymore.. Is this unusual?

I wouldn't say that it's necessarily weird to feel empty. I think a lot of people have the misconception that depressed people feel sad all the time. It also makes a lot of people question if they are actually depressed when they don't feel sad every single minute of the day. I feel empty a lot of the time too.

My depression has often manifested in the feeling of emptiness.
*Trigger warning!* I would self-harm to feel just anything. *END Trigger warning*
I feel that Sylvia Plath has described depression best in "Bell Jar". My depressions were indeed like being trapped in a bell jar. Everything seemed to happen behind glass. I lost the ability to feel taste, other than salty or sweet, so I ate only junk food. Colours were less saturated. And I just felt nothing. Or pain. I didn't feel that much sadness at all.
Big hugs. I hope you feel better soon.
Currently working on my upcoming signature.
