Depression, what not to say

Postby Riccola » Mon Dec 22, 2014 7:10 pm

**possible trigger**

I came across this, and I think it makes a good point. I know Ive been told similar but not the case. Depression is no fault of the person.

^^ great post :)

Can you imagine anyone saying those things to someone who's just been diagnosed with cancer or diabetes?

That's why I don't talk about my depression with anyone. Most people really can't understand it unless they've also gone through it in their life.

"Don't do anything silly"... It's funny, I heard that one from my psychiatrist.

Thanks for the input :D

Yes! I agree, that is inspirational. This did cheer me up. :)

 That would not be good. But depression is exactly like that.

That's why I don't talk about my depression with anyone. Most people really can't understand it unless they've also gone through it in their life.

Same here, some just don't truly understands it. I still see stigma attached to the label. Depression is not something a person can control or always change by themselves. I think not everyone knows what depression really is.
