Is Escapism part of depression. Been on Lexapro and am so tired all the time that I am getting off of them. Does anyone else find that when the depression is worse they have an overwhelming urge to escape and stop thinking. Like a coping method I crave those escapes. Anyone else have similar experiences with depression or when changing meds?

I'd add all other addictions to the list. I started drinking heavily in the first year of my depression, before I got medicated, because it was the only way I could escape the black dog. I'd get manically happy, then wake up the day later feeling depressed and upset again, then drink again... repeat for a long long time. Now on correct (more or less) meds I don't need to drink, sleep 16 hours or escape in other ways, but I have to get used to not doing it -- it used to be my normal way of spending time after all.
Currently working on my upcoming signature.
