Can Depression/Anxiety go by stopping medication? (plz read)

Please no 'talk to your doctor's', life doesn't work like that here :)

I am wondering as i have been depressed and anxious for about 7 years. Nothing has improved over time no therapy no self-help nothing. There are loads of medications i have been on and all of them have some type of effect like continuous fatigue (eventually diagnosed with ME because of taking SSRI's!!) and also there are various other side effects.

Today, i am depressed and suicidal, HOWEVER as opposed to 7 years ago, i now work (19 yrs old), i have grown up, i am going to start counselling (no matter how useless it is), i exercise excessively, eat really healthy and take loads of vitamins and supplements.

Is there a chance if i stop my mix of Sertraline, Buproprion, Buspar etc. that i can get better?
I have heard loads of people saying that Antidepressants MAKE them ill, and sometimes even worse!

What's your thoughts, experience? Thanks

As per your request I will refrain from referring you to a doctor ;)

I don't think anybody can really answer your question based on this information. Yes, there is a non-zero chance you could get better from stopping your medication, especially if it is either badly chosen or your depression is triggered by side effects from it. But neither me nor anybody else here is going to be able to tell you whether this is in fact the case. My first antidepressant made me actively suicidal, insomniac, killed off my libido and made me invent really interesting self-harm ideas. Obviously it was very quickly replaced (by a psychiatrist) with a different one, as it wasn't a good choice. But then you say you've taken loads of medications, so I guess we can rule out the option that you just haven't tried long enough. :/

I think the question is: what made you start taking the meds? Remember yourself from 7 years ago. I don't know that for sure either, but I'd say chances are once you stop taking them you will go back to that state. Would that be an improvement?

Also -- side remark -- if you have determined counselling is useless before even starting, I'm pretty sure it is going to be useless indeed. A self-fulfilling prophecy.

Big hugs and best wishes. I hope I didn't say anything offensive.
Currently working on my upcoming signature.

Quite the contrary, i appreciate honesty :)

Yes i know i just wanted other peoples experience of it.
If i think back 7 years ago my anxiety was perhaps a bit worse but then i had NO depression then, so it would be an improvement lol.

Your right about the self-fullfilling prophecy i'll try and be positive bout it :)
