Best Prescription Medicine for Clinical Depression

Postby PopCorn » Fri Jan 03, 2014 9:14 pm

Is there a medicine which is thought to be the best? My doctor listens to the types of drugs I think are best for me and I am researching the best medicine for clinical depression. Medicines which require increased dose over time are not in my best interest due to my budget.

Its hard to say which is the best as each person is different so what works for one person might not work for another.
Unfortunately its trial and error.
For instance Prozac did not work for me at all. Paroxetine works really well for me though.

I ve been living with depression for 7 years. I ve tried almost everything out there !
Nothing they have labeled for depression has worked for me. However, everyone and ppl are all different. So it s a trail based issue. Finally, I started to use Adderall (off label treatment for depression) And, it works for me, by stimulating the brain, as where - as, depressed people have less stimulation in certain areas of the brain. Clinical depression is a chemical imbalance, unlike situational depression, which is due to circumstances. The only negative feedback is that once you get used to the Adderall, it s hard to get off and you become dependent on it, in my case, after 7 yrs. of depression. It was time for a change and it s worth the gamble. Also, Adderall does build tolerance, so you may have to switch from one ADHD med to another from time to time. (every other month maybe).
